The people who grew up with it in their lives had time to take into consideration everything that was fed to them and form their own true opinions. I've noticed this trend in "Catholic" converts. These people start out in the weird ass nondenominational megachurches, then bring that energy to Catholicism and act like that's the way it always was. I have rarely, if ever, met someone who was fanatical about Catholicism and born into the religion (outside of old people). >>537322958hits it on the head, but I think also people desperately want an identity to cling to.
