Everyone I met who was raised religious is normal and chill about it while every convert seems to be a fanatic and lunatic.

Only the mentally ill start believing in fairy tales. It's much more normal to STOP believing in magic than to start.
>>
>>537322796
It's because a mental breakdown typically precedes religious conversation.

99% of the time they convert because they've done something horrible in secret and the guilt is gnawing at them from the inside. Their new religion becomes an extension of that lingering psychic anxiety and they go full-tilt into it as a means of attempting to diffuse those sensations (usually only exacerbating them thereby).

People who change religion generally have no strong psychological foundation which makes them prone to impulsive behavior, mood swings, and manipulation.

I would imagine that having an "awakening" or whatever you want to call it would come with dramatic effects. The people who grew up with it in their lives had time to take into consideration everything that was fed to them and form their own true opinions. Meanwhile people who just have some sort of sudden switch are compensating for their past lack of whatever it is they now believe in.

I've noticed this trend in "Catholic" converts. These people start out in the weird ass nondenominational megachurches, then bring that energy to Catholicism and act like that's the way it always was. I have rarely, if ever, met someone who was fanatical about Catholicism and born into the religion (outside of old people). >>537322958
hits it on the head, but I think also people desperately want an identity to cling to. Megachurches have no architecture. No culture. They see the beautiful works that Catholicism has spawned and want to latch on to it so desperately, not realizing the how or why.

>Why are religious converts so deranged?
It becomes a defining part of their personality.

>>537322796
I cant take religious people seriously convert or not.

You have to be a lunatic to fall for 2000+ year old Jewish fairy tales as an adult and willingly dedicate your life to following and spreading said fairy tales. People raised that way had no choice and don't know any better.

Just look at judeo-Christians
It unironically means kikes who converted to Christianity. However a kike in the 30's did what kikes do, and subverted the word and claimed it now meant kike-Christian unity. Despite the Bible and essentially every Pope hating kikes, till a gay kike infiltrated the vatican to write the nostra aetate (then resigned, had a nun resign and marry him. So he could have gay sex, but use her as a mask to look straight)

The modern day judeo-Christians who fell for the kike LARP, are just as subversive as the kikes masquerading as Christians. Not unlike the jesuits who were literal kikes who "converted"

i've met a few from various religions and it all really boils down to them trying to prove themselves as worthy coupled with the excitement of being part of something.
it totally defeats the purpose of finding God in my opinion but bear in mind that the majority of religious people see religion as a club.
it's cringeworthy but i guess it's better than them using ""atheism"" as a moral guideline.

>It becomes a defining part of their personality.
the unfortunate consequence of these times is that so many people feel the need to be more than who they are at their core. religion, sex/gay shit, and mental illness have become entire personality types just because people can't understand how to just BEE YOURSELF.

>So, I don't know, she's like, "move your skulls to the basement, because I got these 'drapes'..." I don't even get that, I’m like, "Honey, this is 'work'."
>Are you serious?
>I can’t put ‘em in the fucking basement, I mean, and she’s like, you know, “Can you put a tarp over them, also?” And I just felt like...NO! I’m not... god damn it!
>I got one at home just like it. And I got a kid now, and so...
>That’s a whole other set of bullshit, I’m sure.
>So, Cathy puts the co-sleeper right next to my preserved brain collection, and she wants me to move them cause she thinks it's not hygienic.
>I don't understand how there's a lack of appreciation for that... backlight coming through the glass of the jars that the brains are in. I mean, it just looks cool.
>You've seen that?
>Why move it? That's the point of putting it next to the window.
>Right.
> And I’m sure you've explained that to Cathy, but she obviously doesn't get that.
> Yeah. Yeah, there's no... yeah, I can’t even argue with her.
>Ugh, it's fuckin' ridiculous.
>If I want to move the bed... Hey. Hey, isn't that that guy?

People raised on religion just believe it because its what they were taught as kids, for someone to convert they need to be mentally broken to the point of changing their ideology (Rimworld taught me this, they usually have a minor break like hiding in their room for a while after conversion)
