A month ago, a civil domestic violence restraining order was issued against me, but it legally expired 10 days ago because nobody filed for an extension.My parents, who own the house, brought me back home. However, my sister lives there too, and she openly wants me gone so she can inherit the house alone. Three days ago, while I was ignoring her, she walked in, punched me in the face, and called the cops. Because of my record, the police didn't care about the facts and slapped me with a 10-day emergency eviction, accusing me of obstructing a court order. She just sent me a frantic Facebook text bragging about it, but accidentally admitted in writing that she never filed to extend the original court order, proving it was already dead. My parents are 100% on my side and are going to the police to expose her lies—just last week she called the cops on our mom three times because mom wouldn't give her $6 for the pub. My dad is stable, but my mom is fragile and scared of police interrogation. I’m currently displaced and need advice on how to psychologically cope with the stress of a family member trying to jail me, and how to deal with a sociopathic sibling weaponizing the law for a family inheritance

You might not see the money (usually the lawyer takes the lion's share), but you can file for things like garnishment of her wages, and asking an appeals court to overturn or quash your previous conviction because the one who accused you has been shown to be an unreliable, non-credible witness2) Her injuring you is grounds for a physical injury lawsuit also. Toss is some emotional damages for good measure. Again, no-win, no-fee lawyer.3) Be proactive in understanding *and* exerting your rights. If police arrest you, give a 'no comment' interview (you should have the right to remain silent, use it: if they're interviewing you, it is because they think you're the suspect)4) If your parents own the tenancy, they ought to issue an eviction notice to your sister if she's legally an adult.
