No matter who you are your belief of self defense will look very different to a district attorney and 12 jurors. And you being involved in any incident requiring any interaction will be assessed by the DA or determined by a jury, no matter what. There is no interaction where police are involved to any degree where they will ever say, well that was self defense you go on home now, never. They will tell you well, that's for the judge to figure out and off you go into the criminal justice system. Matters not whether you are being raped and stab the guy in the commission of, or someone is attacking or killing someone else and you intervene, or a guy pulls a gun on your family and you shoot him dead, your case will get a number and you will be taken to the station and you will be detained, maybe not arrested but definitely detained. At that moment you took action all that info goes straight to the DA and they will decide to charge or not. You can self defense, sure. But you better know that the cops ain't there, he said he said, the video isn't immediately attained, and you will absolutely be debriefed at the very least while being detained. Your best best is to follow SERE, especially the SEE parts and get the fuck away from anyone trying to engage in anything, ever. Naturally, if you see someone trying to kidnap a child or harm them or an old person you can and should intervene, who wouldn't. Just know, no matter what you do you will go with the cops and your case gets decided to move forward or be dropped by the DA. Better not bet on it they will drop it. Some of them if they know you will plea to just about anything to get probation will charge you with something. Did you have two seconds to stop and call 911but didn't, you certainly can catch a charge reckless. People better stop believing stand your ground or self defense laws are a blanket.
