No, but I do think picking up other languages is a symptom of being terminally online. Russian is kind of the de-facto foreign language for American computer programmers or "hackers". Japanese is often picked up by weebs. I had a friend who loved Latina women and he ended up learning Spanish.

Chinese speakers are overwhelmingly concentrated in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. It might have the most native-speakers, but outside of China, its importance is about as strong as Portuguese. It's a neat language, and I would learn it if I weren't focusing on more useful languages, but anyone expecting Mandarin to help their career better have a very clear plan for how that's going to work.
