This categorization Jewish people employ to divide people into two drastically different castes with unequal responsibilities and rights ultimately leads to Jews themselves being perceived as a foreign element in a society. Those Jews that refuse to integrate and insist on being Jews among goys are paving the way towards their own discrimination - when you visibly stand out in a otherwise homogenous society (homogeneity not necessary in ethnicity, but culture, religion, ideology etc.), you make yourself a target for discrimination because you are the only one standing out. You are the foreign element in an otherwise unified system. And the more they insist on being different and refuse to assimilate into the people they are living with, the more animosity they are bound to face even if its factually unfounded. Of course, this modus vivendi they had developed for themselves helps them preserve their national identity when being a small minority that can easily lose its roots in a much bigger world. But you cannot have it both - be drastically and demonstratively different from people around you and also expect them to treat you equally.
