>No need for a refrigeration technician

>No need to pay 3000-4000€

>No issues with condominiums because it's a portable air conditioner requiring no installation

>Same performance as a fixed air conditioner

>No noise

Why did it take almost 5000 000 years for something like this to exist wtf? This thing is brand new and was only released in 2024, and is only becoming popular now.

I thought it was a German thing, I realize it's Chinese.

"Midea is a Chinese company specializing in the production of household appliances and air conditioners. Its headquarters are located in Foshan, Guangdong. It is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange."

FUCK EUROPE

>PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER with outdoor unit: same performance as a reversible air conditioner

>LOW COST ELECTRIC CAR

>Soon, AI-powered robot women

Fuck Europe, hope we will be invaded by China soon
>>

Why do we want to save Europe?
The plan is differ.
>>
>>537583470
Just that was enough to improve the daily lives of Europeans, a simple portable air conditioner with an outdoor unit for 1K€ only. What alien technology does China have that the EU prevents us from accessing?
>>
>>537583470
Yuros are like cavemen when it comes to air conditioning
>>
The ductless split air conditioner was invented in 1959 by Mitsubishi. Japan. China doesn't invent anything anymore, they just make things cheaper, and therefore more easy to break. Fuck off

Portable aircons have existed for years, what am I missing? They consume a lot more energy btw, watch out for your electricity bill.
>>
>>537583470
I'm only surprised that other producers have not built their split ACs into similar models. It can't be that difficult, can it?
>>
>>537584145
A+++, it uses almost no energy. I check my consumption, I'm barely at €1.50/2€ per day (with the air conditioning + my PC gayming).

>>537583944

I bought it a month ago and I have no problems, and absolutely everyone in Europe is buying it right now. Try again, CIA.
>>
>>537584218
It's not difficult, but it makes less money because you can install it yourself.

early adopter here. first one was great and is still in use, as good as the first day we ordered it. the second one not so. it has issues. noisy and P1. which means either the condensation pump is fucked or the draining pipe is clogged. don't care. we had a spare monitor stand collecting dust and put the inside uniot on that. placed bowl below to collect condensation water coming out of a hose attached to the drain. works now. hope it will continue to work for at least five years or so. then I won't mind buying another unit.

>>
>>537584796

It's a 4-in-1 unit; I saw it also acts as a heat pump. Is it worth it in winter? Because it's better to heat just one room where you are than the whole apartment with gas, right?

I don't see the problem in the first place. Every AC needs to be regulary demolded?
>>
>>537584145
A traditional portable AC is self contained. This splits it in two pieces and puts the hot part outside so efficiency is much better.

These didn’t have any kind of drain in them, so if you installed it incorrectly without any slope, water could sit in it. The revised model has a drain that slowly lets water out.
>>
>>537584971
heating: don't do it. condensation coming from the hoses to the inside is no joke. but if you are nifty, you can fix that. otherwise, still not really worth it, as your window will never be fully closed.

>>
>>537584642
I got an AC, too. Not the midea split, but still, it makes summers so much better. Good choice buying one.
>>
>>537585159
less than half are home owners here. forget about installing a proper unit in your rental apartment. also, we only need it for a couple of weeks when it is the worst. the rest of the time, no AC needed.
>>
>>537585392

I'll try it then.
>>
>>537583470
They are either directly from China, or produced in China. Before we bought a new set of ACs a couple of years ago, I wasn't so sure about the brand since I've never heard of it before, they were from Gree. Turns out Gree is the largest AC producer in the world, they hold a shitload of patents, the make heat pumps and all sorts of shit.
This is the Midea PortaSplit Cool, if I'm not mistaken. It gets hyped in Germany, there were many positive articles about it and Lidl had it on sale for a very competitive 599. It's very popular because renters usually aren't allowed to drill holes in the wall in order to install a Split AC, so you can either buy a shitty Monoblock or buy something like picrel which doesn't require drilling and works pretty well for.
>>
>>537583470
Wtf is exciting about this?
Literally the same as every other AC except it takes space up on the floor.
You still need to run tubes into it.
Like great for a temporary tent, I guess.
>>
>>537585528
Previous “portable” acs have the warm and cool side of the unit contained together. A hose/duct tries to move the hot air outside. This is very inefficient. This splits it into two parts and puts the hot part of the unit outside where it belongs.
>>
>>537584145
Portable were not split until recently for whatever reason, probably ac split mafia to not rob their marketshares which china doesnt care about obviously
>>
>>537584352

>>
>>537585246

>>
>>537583649
Ummm. I think you'll find most in south of Europe have AC, and the rest of us aren't going to buy AC for the 3 weeks a year it's hot. My apartment has AC, and I never use it

We're not snowflake faggots like Americans. They make sense in Asia, though.

This new unit could change things, though.
>>
>>537585640
For us we are kind of limited by our household 115v receptacles. That makes the portable units top out around 10k-12k btu. Traditional mini split units are usually hard wired to 230v so you can get higher BTU units.

Since your power is already 230/240v, you could have more powerful portable units than us.
>>
>>537585528
>>537585605
yes. it's not novel. but it's much more efficient than other solutions. in fact, there was another split AC before Midea but it was so loud and inefficient that I waited to either another company to build something better or risk and build something temporary out of fixed units using plywood. so happy that I don't have to do that. there are huge fines for non-professional AC installations.
>>
>>537583470
You children are silly.
Why do people get a portable ACs?
Because it's hot for 1-1.5 months per year, and don't care about the inefficiency or you're dirt poor in the south.

If you have the option to install in essence a fixed installation you install a fixed installation. It comes pre-charged, just think at least 2 months ahead before summer starts next time.
>>
>>537585784
Depends on the application. I have an older house with central ac added later. However my upstairs “bonus” room is cooled/heated with a mini split so I don’t have to run a bunch of ducting.
>>
>>537585818
The newer buildings might require it.
Old construction can lose the heat at night.
Here in newish construction (2020 delivery) the outdoor temp becomes the indoor night temperature for 4-5 days, all in the name of saving on heating bills in the winter.
>>
>>537585528
It's essentially a portable mini-split. Mini-splits are the most efficient type of air conditioner. Around twice as efficient as a standard window unit. And up to 50% more efficient than Central Air conditioning.

Being portable, this is likely easy to install, can be moved from house to house, and can be stored when not needed. I would still rather a permanent unit though where possible.

It's like traditional portable air conditioners with a sealing system, except here you have an outdoor unit and you can place the outdoor unit on the indoor unit (there is a support provided) and move it with the wheels (but honestly I'm too lazy to have to remove my sealing every time, I put it in my living room and I'm sleeping in my living room currently, because that's where my balcony is, which is more convenient).

Portable split units have existed for a good while now, that's not new tech.
As for why Euros don't have AC, there's one very big reason for it.
You guys are probably too young to remember, but back in the 90's a hole in the ozone layer was the global hot button issue.
The greatest contributor to the layer's decline was shitty refrigerants, especially from AC units.
You'd see the fear mongering news with pictures of AC units from thirdie nations every day.
This pretty much killed any ideas about AC for decades and then it quietly became a cultural thing to not have it at all.

I did something different 4.5 years ago.
I bought a regular (Electrolux ChillFlex Pro) portable aircon and modified it to add a second external air duct, so I can cool the compressor with outside air.
After opening it up and isolating properly the compressor and evaporator chambers, I have an efficiency comparable to yours, but with no external unit.
Still works like a champ.

I wouldn't know since we only have regular split units, but it seems to work well enough. Nobody is complaining about that part, at least not to my knowledge. If you're a renter in Germany, you can either buy one of those, or you can suffer.
You could maybe try one of those ghetto solutions, but I've never tried them.

And your homes, and the homes in those humid countries are all built to handle those conditions.
Homes in central and northern Europe are built to retain as much heat as possible.
They're ovens, and because we're not Jews, we don't bitch.
Having said that, new construction went too far the retaining route. Keeping heat is fine, but you need ways to dispose of it and just some windows and asthmatic central venting won't do.
>>
>>537584455
It is new though because it's a all-in-one portable unit. You can't have this because you have cucked 120v sockets.

I have one of those single hose portable ACs and it's pretty fucking annoying to use. It's annoyingly loud when the compressor is going and it's difficult to get a good seal around the window with the hose, even with the velcro tape and fabric sealing. Fortunately it practically never gets warm enough that I have to use it. It's been 5 or so years since I used it last.

>>537584145
They're typically more efficient due to the use of heat pump technology and the fact that there is a smaller section of wall cavity being created through the split system (as opposed to wall or windows mounted, which is why air conditioners have Styrofoam insulation).

A heat pump is basically just an air conditioner that can move heat in either direction, so can heat and cool, and has a variable speed inverter so it doesn't need to keep turning on and off constantly, which is the major cause of energy usage. They have wall and windows mounted units that can do this nowadays btw.

>wring it out a bit so its just damp
>put it in the freezer for a sec
>take it out and put it on your head
>sit in front of the fan

It's neither.
Heat-pumps (utilizing the refrigeration cycle) were invented and refined by American inventors (though building upon British and French scientific foundations).

Ok, maybe I have overreacted a little bit and read too much into your post. Just to give you some additional info here: Try to deal with the typical Behördenscheiße here and you will realize that the Bürokratiewahnsinn back in Germany may be terrible, but it's the lesser of two evils. You have the perfect storm here, retards galore, ex-socialist shithole system, everyone is disinterested, one rule for you and another for the retard around the corner because he's bros with the local Bürohengst, terrible inefficiency etc. Not long ago, they would just give you the run-around if you didn't give them 50 hicks or so, but that's less common now. We have a rule here, strictly no construction work from the 15th of June onwards. No problem for the well-connected crew who started asphalting roads a couple of days ago, rest assured that they would fine-rape my foreigner ass if I did a fraction of that shit. None of that would fly in Germany.

Which jew was behind the lawsuit?
Any connection to dupont chemicals? They run the refridgerant game in the US and are the reason we dont have cheap and effective r22 anymore.

I have a regular portable one with the hose out the window in a few rooms. It keeps the area cool enough to not sweat and I’m not even sealing the window, just leaving the hose out the open window.

That's at least good to know.

What's wrong with R22s? All my new ones use R22.

How hot is there? What level of humidity?
I'm also worried about the noise if I have to keep the window open, not just from the ac but also regular traffic noise.

that's ok. can get quite abrasive myself which is why i'm here
and i think i can understand wanting some kind of (working) official structure when living in, lets say less neurotic parts of the world.
although getting around regulations seems to work the same anywhere you go, gotta know someone who knows someone...

don't buddy me, buddy. we have temperatures above the body temperature. you don't know what heat really means. the asphalt is melting. that's what we are dealing here with sometimes. go back to your mom.

I put about 1k euro into solar panel (cheap during winter sales) and while it's not insane savings I can blast my AC in 3-4 rooms at the same time and keep the whole house at 23c
Overall since March it was around 2 euros of electricity saved per day, a bit more now. Our electricity isn't ultra expensive but for germans I think it would be totally worth it

It’s been around 33 these days, idk about humidity. They’re pretty loud tho but some have sleep modes and timers. Just make sure you get one with enough BTU for the room size

Tourist season, also: Try doing construction work during the current heat wave. Here, the temperatures Germany is currently experiencing are nothing unusual. The local slave class still manages somehow, I would die from a heat stroke in half a day.

>>537597908
Yeah sounds like hell. In that case I’d def recommend some kind of AC fuck being sweaty all the time.

>Did I ask about the "why does a guy choose gynecology as his specialty" part?
Its all a matter of perspective. Gyn is a very interesting topic because
1) There is a lot of life quality to be won (compare this to a 86 y.o. grandmas 3rd hip replacement)
2) Linked to that, your clientel is younger than the average patient
3) Gyn therapy is very diverse. There is not many specialties were doctors meet in the morning and it goes like
>Bob wants to do cesarians today? Ok, off to surgery with bob for 8 hours
>Linda doesnt feel like doing rounds? Ok, go to the walk-in-patients station
In addition, you have unique therapeutic options not available to other specialties because the female reproductive organs are the most isolated of all organ systems. You can literally surgically remove 80% of it without causing problems. This might sound very macabre but understand that a uterus thats constantly producing cancer cells or did its last job 10 years ago can just be removed, unlike a stomach, or heck, even a penis without remaking the urethra.

You've mentioned a couple of those things last time, very interesting. I always kind of suspected most females would have inhibitions going to a male gynecologist, seems like that's not the case.

They do, this is statistically proven and significantly so comparing appointments in male vs female gyns in non-clinical settings. Simply put, they prefer going to a woman. But then again, the same is true vice-versa, just less relevant.

my house is sitting at 19 degrees Celsius because I bought this badboy for 400 bucks, power it for free with my solars, ez pz
>>
Its not the same because it makes a ton of condensation that you have to deal with that doesn't just drip off the window unit outside. You also have to consider that it works by condensing air to create temperature gradients and that its not pulling air from outside but rather from right where its dumping the cold air, making it VERY inefficient, which you will definitely see the difference in your electric bill compared to a regular windows unit.
>>
>>537600334
You're at a bit of a competitive disadvantage then, huh? You have to look at the bright side, at least you're practicing medicine in a comparatively sane country. The chances of you encountering a trans with a Heinz ketchup pack between the legs is significantly lower compared to some parts of the US.
>>
>>537596264
>A plastic sheet is hardly a seal though.
There's probably not even enough air blowing it to get you above 25C in that room if you leave the window crack open.

But anyhow just use anything whatsoever to close the crack - the included cover, pool noodles, a plexiglass window with cutout, that you can easily mount/dismount, whatever.

>>537597908
Ya just get the mobile AC if you can afford it? As french anon further up said, the ones with high efficiency don't cost that much to operate anyhow.
