One night we are in line to get back to the carrier, we get told that no more liberty boats are going to the ship because the sea state is too bad. I tell my chief we are going to go back into town to get a hotel for the night (we didn't have duty) and that motherfucker says we aren't going anywhere and have to stay inside this warehouse thing where the rest of the sailors are waiting. so from 2100-0500 the next day there's 200+ sailors sleeping on the floor of a warehouse because chain of command didn't want to let us go back into town after liberty expired. The DDG from the strike group was right there and nobody even offered to let the CVN sailors at least sleep somewhere on board. what a joke. One time we were about to head out on COMPTUEX on the Theodore Roosevelt and the day we were going to go underway I woke up and didn't feel the movement of the waves it felt like we didn't leave port at all. Come to find out the reactor wasn't able to start up so they delayed everything by a day. I was never a Nuke but holy fuck those guys got shafted on every deployment I was on. Some of them were working 5 on/ 5 off and constantly dealing with reactor casualties.
