How do I recognize if someone is a Dalit? To be progressive I started calling all Indians at work Dalit, but I've been called to HR because they said they got complaints, and that I was being culturally insensitive. I have no idea of the intricacies of the caste system, which I tried to explain, but now they gave me a formal warning. The HR lady was Dalit as well by the way.
