Trains here are for transporting cargo. If you need to take a train instead of a plane to go from Chicago to Seattle, you are poor and have to deal with a 3 or 4 day trip instead of 5 hours.

where I live, I can get to the next state over driving, it costs like $40 in gas round trip and takes 90 minutes one waya train from here to the same place takes 5 hours and costs $100, all one way
