The school bus system makes perfect sense and the culture and law demands you respect it. If you saw this sort of enforced efficiency system in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia or Japan you would praise it and say it is typical of their people’s genius but in America it is taken for granted and a simple part of life.

You don't even have to get central AC installed, you can get a mini split or portable AC that you only run for the hottest part of the day for maybe a few weeks out of the year. Turn it off at night, open your windows, take a cold shower, etc. Does that little sliver of time out of the year really make that much of a difference in your power bill?
