Could this have been prevented?
>>537695168Wouldn't have happened had Pilsudski not died and that asshole Beck taken over.
>>537695168Yes, like WW1 the conditions leading to it were orchestrated by the Anglos to provoke a war on purpose in order to contain Germany
>>537695168I dont see how, Hitler already made it clear hes willing to break a deal and that he couldnt be trusted.same thing with stalin, he also couldnt be trusted.stalin cant trust hitler, and hitler cant trust stalin. its impossible for them to work together and not backstab each other and there can only be one man of steel or one führer.and then you have the anglo kikes that offered stalin a lot of lend lease and power in exchange for crushing germany.so there is no way that stalin and hitler could ever agree.
>>537695168I think that map is deceptive as it implies that a joint attack occurred, which did not happen. Germany attacked on 1 September, Russia moved in on 17 September. Russia lost up to 3k dead for the entire operation, as opposed to Germanys 17k dead. Obviously Russia lost less because the Poles were already largely defeated. So, despite anything else, Russia would be foolish to not take the territory, and Poland had refused a self defence pact with them, so ensuring that Germany did not take it all makes sense. Better to have the border in Poland.Yes, I am aware of the history of conflict and former holdings in the area. But, the question I have is what should Russia have done when presented with the proposal from Ribbentrop?
>>537695168Not really. Imagine Poland trying to defend itself.
>>537695168Yeah, if Poland simply bowed down to Germany and agreed to become a satellite like Hungary and Romania.Sure, they would have lost autonomy over their economy and foreign policy, but Poland as a state would survive.
>>537695168Yeah, if the entente had immediately peaced out Germany to go slaughter the bolsheviks together in 1917.
>>537695168Yes but it would've required an extensive and expensive series of fortification building and military modernization that the Poles were too poor and stupid to pursue. The Poles were riding horses into battle against tanks and the Germans still lost a massive amount of troops. If they had've been even mildly modernized the war would've been too slow and bloody for Germany and it would've bought France and Britain time to actually get their shit together and attack in the west.
>>537696103Yep, I never understood this how they chose being genocided and losing 5 million people instead of just bowing down and losing maybe 50k people. Morons
>>537696103Or just give up Danzig as asked, a German city.
>>537696300>riding horses into battle against tanksthen stalin followed up with the glorious russian cavalry (instantly annihilated)
>>537695820>Hitler openly campaigned against unsustainable imposed conditions, and then did what he said he'd do, breaking a deal no Germans liked and that would have resulted in the destruction of Germany>Therefore his own diplomacy couldn't be trusted
>>537695168Oh, the Treaty of Versailles should just have been properly enforced. You can never trust Germans kids. They WILL stab you in the back. Let that be a lesson for you all.
>>537696436That would have entailed joining Germany's sphere of influence. Poland was too weak both military and economically to ever be an equal partner to Germany, whose long term goal was to create a self-sufficient empire dominating all of central and eastern Europe.
>>537696300Germans were using cavalry during WW2 as well and they were - obviously - having their asses handed to them by Polish cavalry.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Krasnobr%C3%B3d_(1939)btw, the seething about "cavalry charging the tanks" was started by Guderian who was humiliated by the Russian 1st Guards Cavalry Corps at Moscow to the point that Hitler removed him from command which ended his operational career for good rofl.
>>537696682>Fight a war that every other major power participates in>Get singled out for the greatest indemnity and humiliation>Allies have their reparations forgiven due to depressionThe Versailles Treaty was one of the most foolish documents ever written. Foch knew what it meant.
>Could this have been prevented?Yes easily.Versailles was fucked up in more ways than one because france just want to amputate germany. With the main problem being the polish corridor slicing east prussia from germany proper, while still giving poland Danzig, they could have just did what they did in Italy/Yugoslavia/Switzerland (Treaty of Rapallo (1920)). Giving Germany an 'Extraterritorial Corridor' to allow them access to and from the states. I know Hitler demanded this first before invading, but if Versailles just did this stupid thing, it wouldnt be such a big issue, and people would not accept this as much
>>537696557no the others ones that he made personally.

>>537695960
>>537697462They already captured Czechoslovakia before. All the babbling about muh Danzig and muh corridor was just that - babbling as a ridiculous excuse of their butthurt and territorial ambitions .
>>537695168.Should've ceded territory to Germany. Maybe it will be Germany, All Baltic German countries, and Poland against Soviet Russia.

>>537695238Stop posting this meme bullshit. The Nazis lied and bragged about it. Imagine falling for le peace propaganda again. The old german elites wanted poland to be gone. Von Seeckt stated this clearly in his letter to Chancellor Wirth in 1922. >Polens Existenz ist unerträglich, unvereinbar mit den Lebensbedingungen Deutschlands. Es muss verschwinden und wird verschwinden
>>537699950Yeah, they hated Poland so much, it is almost hilarious. There are a lot of funny quotes.Makes me feel almost bad for them.
