as a european, i genuinely can't tell how much of the american "i need 2 jobs just to survive" stuff is real and how much is just whining.

americans constantly talk about being broke, unable to afford rent, living paycheck to paycheck, etc. meanwhile they have some of the highest incomes in the world, much larger homes than europeans, bigger cars, more living space, and generally consume far more stuff.

i only make a little over €2k a month but i live comfortably in helsinki. i pay my bills, live in a decent apartment, can afford hobbies and nights out, and still save a bit.

so what's going on? are americans actually struggling that much, or is "barely getting by" in america just not being able to afford the lifestyle your parents had, a detached house, a new suv, eating out all the time, and a dozen subscriptions?

from the outside, a lot of it sounds less like poverty and more like resentment over not being a part of the 0.1% rich elite.

A tale of two cities and a great migration of people, wealth and business is happening. California and New York are falling. Texas, Florida and the south are rising
>>
>>537707048
Americans are obsessed with constantly spending and consuming. In the US, you have people that earn 150k a year in debt multiple times that.
>>
>>537707729
150k is not rich at all in New York or San Francisco. It is fairly wealthy in the heartland.
>>
I work in an ER where the nurses are constantly picking up overtime with bonus pay. Their base pay is more than $70k a year, and with all the bonus incentives their hourly on pickup shifts is around $70. The other day 3 of them were talking about how they had over 20k in credit card debt and it was climbing. I'm in a lower paid position than them, only slightly older, and fully own my own house and car, no mortgage or car payment. I never work overtime either.

Americans are profoundly retarded with finances and operate entirely on consume product, don't ask questions and consume next product. They'll work 70 hour weeks to consume product rather than learning to cook for themselves or not drinking, especially gen z and millennials.
>>
Doesn't matter if you can't afford a home in & have been priced out of any decent area.
>>
>>537707048
Partially. Some of us are just really fucking bad with money. Gen X co-worker of mine has a bunch of subscriptions he forgets about and then whines if his hours get cut despite owning his own house, and getting more hours than the rest of us.
Younger people however genuinely struggle to find good jobs that pay more than 20 an hour. Combined with rent that's probably 50% higher at least than in Europe, food prices that from my experience were also somewhere around twice as high, and you can start to see the issue.

Hell when I lived in Vienna I was spending less than I do now in my shitty midwestern home town of 40k people.

There's a doc on youtube about the American debt crisis. Guys working in construction in Texas oil field earning 150k but are in debt.
>>
>>537707048
It's primarily a geographic issue. If you're living in one of the big coastal cities then yeah, it's basically impossible to have anything resembling a normal life if you don't make at least 100k or pretty close to it.

But if you're living in the Midwest or the south, that's really not the case. I'm in a metro area of a couple million people in the middle of the USA. Average rent here for a 1 bedroom apartment is 1100-1300 per month. I pay $850. I make about $25 per hour, and it works out for me. After insurance and 401k and taxes I take home about 2800 per month. Despite my college degree I got 15 years ago, I live a diminished life from that of my parents. That being said, they paid for my education, so I don't have loan repayments or any other debt. I have enough money to pay rent, spend on food and entertainment, and go out and get drinks when I wan while still saving a small amount.

I'm in one of the lowest cost of living areas of the country. If I made my wage (50k annually) anywhere else, I would have a much shittier life.

I genuinely have no idea how fast food workers in places like New York or California or Washington actually afford to live at all. I assume they're all living with roommates or just their parents
>>
>>537707048
Having been in both continents what I saw is about the same actual standard of living but Americans are the ones paying for the lack of general infrastructure so they see a big number in their bank accounts and get happy but realistically they'll live with the same amount of actual value as a European with half their income.
Also add on top the fact that their culture is obsessed with being niggers and overspending and you get people that need 10 times the money, think everyone else is just dumb and still end up stuck in debt traps but every price is before tax so check mate europoors
>>
>>537708081

No. The majority of Americans are literally living hand-to-mouth.

Cityfag is retarded. Nebraska and Utah have the highest employment rates. How do you have towns without jobs? Heartland is dominating everything. Consumption culture is absolutely true. Credit cards are evil, they make all their money off interest, they are incentivized to drive you into debt, they target and directly advertise via mail susceptible people
>>
>>537707048
it's a mix of both, same as over here.
shit has gotten way too expensive, especially compared to a few decades ago, because there are too many rent seekers injecting themselves everywhere and taking money without performing any labor or services of value in return.
but the ones who have to work two jobs are also just retards in the ghetto who don't know how to handle money.
>>
>>537708089
>lack of general infrastructure

>>537707048

Helsinki; you have socialized excellent health coverage. In America it depends on your job. A hospital bed, just the bed for one night alone is $3000.00. An aspirin with a dixie cup of water is $20.00. and so on. Americans are in desperate shape unless of course, they're wealthy. If you can't afford $65k for membership in a country club minimum then you're sort of teetering on the edge.
>>
>>537708058
I imagine the debt came first lol. Nobody works on an oil field unless they have a hardcore FIRE mentality, or are in dire straits from their own bad decisions.
>>537708089
As a man who has also lived both places you really hit it correctly.
Still varies by place though. Going to have a vastly different experience in Paris vs Ljubliana, or Mobile Alabama vs New York City. But the generally rule of us making more money but having to spend more due to shoddily held up society is pretty accurate.
>>
>>537707048
Yes it is. They keep complaining all while spending hundreds on subscription services, 10$ coffee every morning, driving absolutely everywhere even if it's just 10 minute walk, paying hundreds for goyslop which is modern western culture like superheroes and ubuysoft games and upgrading their iphones every year.

>wtf where

I live downtown in a non ghetto area. It's a 1 bedroom but pretty tiny, maybe around 700 square feet but it's oddly shaped so it feels bigger.

I'll give you a hint, it's a world cup host city. I did find an exceptionally good deal though, my previous apartment was $1,050 per month (though it was larger), also downtown.

To be fair I'm not being as frugal as I could be. There are some 1 bedroom apartments in the $600-$700 per month range but those are a couple blocks east of the old racial dividing line street and those ghetto areas are still high in crime. You can even get 2 bedroom stand alone houses for sometimes under $1000 a month total in rent there

See the key here is that Americans have very high expectations for living. Eurocucks get a place with a roof and electricity (no AC) and enough money for bread and cheese and they're content.

The American is like "what the fuck? There's no AC, no garbage disposal, this is some shitty ass tiny washing machine, the dryer doesn't even work, there's no garage for my car, what the fuck this isn't even a proper kitchen, holy fuck this fridge is made for fucking ants, there's not even a normal sized dishwasher and why the fuck is there no laundry room? Not just between regions, but overall. You could compare say New England and the west coast to western europe, and the deep south to the balkans. But overall we have worse infrastructure when you compare the equivalent regions of Europe. This includes social supports as well as the physical infrastucture itself. They pay higher taxes and get a society with less stress basically.

We have private healthcare in the UK which is very high quality (I was lucky to have grown up with my parents' private cover) but it's significantly more affordable than in America. Even now I only go to private dentists to get anything done, obviously I have to pay unlike with the NHS but it's a very good level of care and the costs are more similar to French private healthcare, way lower than America.
Americans really are being totally scammed by their healthcare and insurance companies and you have this idea that it's either accept the scam, or have dogshit healthcare like the NHS. This is a false dichotomy. If you go around Europe you will find that private healthcare is actually quite common, and it's much more nuanced than everything being socialised (a lot of French healthcare is actually private). It is possible to have private healthcare that isn't just a big jewish scam.

Yes that is the crux of it. It's a black-mentality where you have to spend more than you earn, keep up appearances, flex status through materialism. It's interesting that it's quite unique from the rest of the world. In most places if you drive around in a green Lambo it's not seen as high status, it's someone who is bad with money, likely an immigrant, a drug-dealer, someone without taste. High status here is more about your family background, education background, your accent and behaviours, owning real assets, I think it's just an old-money mentality.

The American dream has turned into this sort of unaffordable material flexing. Stupid blingy watches. Unnecessarily large wood houses with AC running 24/7. They talk about fast food like it's a proper restaurant and they talk about eating goyslop products like it's proper grocery shopping.
Just some observations as a European who spent some time over there.
>>

This is mostly correct. The U.S. has been importing semi-retarded, nearly unemployable brown people for decades. Even the ones born here simply can’t compete in a somewhat developed country.

Most can’t handle the demands of jobs that pay a moderate income. Outside of a few exceptions, most of those jobs require at least some kind of cognitive ability that most browns simply don’t posses.

So the incongruent stories OP hears are those between average white people and average non-whites. We hear stories of the latter more often than we did ten years ago because there are more of them.

White people are fine, for the most part.

>muh states
It’s way more complicated than that. There are parts of every state you mentioned that are absolute shitholes and parts that are thriving.

also, michigan is the WORST state in this area.

tons of muslims and niggers, EVERYWHERE.

also, the reason chicago keeps dying is because we supply guns to basically everywhere around us but we have EXTREMELY relaxed gunlaws. so our guncrime is extremely low everywhere except the capital city.

however, everywhere around us with strict gunlaws have crazy guncrime... and we supply them for easy money. chicago and Cincinnati being two of them.

>>
>>537710728
unemployment rates are a funny categorical mess if you want to actual try to use that as any sort of benchmark.

unemployment doesnt account for a lot of factors and specifically excludes others.

if anything, 'unemployment rate' signifies people actually looking for and finding work. rather than giving up and living on welfare like cities.

however, as I said before, the often less industrious struggle hence why its safe from niggers and spics. meanwhile all the nigs and spics in cities are lapping at the welfare doing nothing, not even contributing to unemployment statistics.

but you already showed you are a bit lacking in the stats department lol

Thise are not unreasonable expectations. We have had dramatically increasing productivity for generations. It is reasonable to expect increasing standard of living if it is ever-cheaper to produce all of these things. If you are stuck in the living standards of 70 years ago, you are being stolen from. We are too, but at least we know it and it makes us angry. It sounds like it is happening worse to Euros and they are content.

Wanted to add that lifestyle inflation is an issue as well. I actually work with a guy who was an active roster NFL player for three years. That would average out to around $1,000,000 a year, yet this dumb motherfucker had to get an actual job.

Lifestyle inflation killed it for him. People make more money and immediately spend it. Got a new job? Now you can afford a new car. Got a promotion? Move to a bigger house and take more expensive vacations. Big Christmas bonus? Bigger presents and stuff for the house.

This is why you see videos of people with professional jobs claiming they “can’t afford to live” on $75k a year in rural Kentucky.

Either you are retarded with money or a liar.
5200Euro after taxes is over 20k PLN. It puts you in top 0.1% in Poland and you can do whatever the fuck you want with that money. Even considering you spend half of it monthly with the rest you can have a new car every year, apartment in a big city after 4 years. And that's with cash. If you go with credit you have at least 5mln capability for consumption.
Food in Poland compared to US is far cheaper also we do not have tip culture nor niggers destroying your shit. So where is your money going? Of course nowhere because you are just liar.

The two jobs thing is mostly middle class zoomers LARPing as poor. The people who actually work 2 jobs are rural whites who vote red
Most of the paycheck to paycheck is a result of poor financial managment but mortgages are so high that house ownership is almost impossible forn young white working class men without connections.
While "not buying avocado toast" won't earn them a house, it will make their lives easier but most normalfags are cattle that do not have the self regulation to keep their rampant consumerism in check.

When I lived in the US I was dipping into my savings to pay rent, it drove my decision to emigrate.

They use credit cards willy nilly for convenience.
They could use debit cards that they manage themselves, or one of those newer pin cards, but nooo they view their credit card balance as another wallet full of money they can use.
That's the draw, another wallet of money, but they pay way the fuck more money to use it than the wallet is actually worth, and the credit cards are more than happy to let you sit in debt so they rig their interest rates and credit scores to make sure you keep paying every month.
They way, they create a dependency relationship instead of simply selling you a service you don't need.

It traps these gullible fools who thought in the moment and weren't looking ahead into a system where their monthly costs are exorbitantly higher than they otherwise would be, for no material gain in the end.

There’s a reason we call you “Europoors” because as other anons pointed out a lot of you are comfortable basically living as paupers would in the US. I’m not talking about not being able to afford Doordash burgers every night or not having a giant SUV, I’m talking about eating rice and beans and walking/taking the bus. There’s no point in living in America if you’re forced to live like some Mexican or African. Our ancestors (up until the boomers) sacrificed so much for us to get a better standard of living, it is actually kind of our birthright, not entitlement.

We used to be able to afford that higher standard of living, but we have been positively raped by inflation the last five or six years since the covid money printers turned on, and a certain orange retard’s tariffs jumped up the prices on almost everything a good 10% as well.
Also unlike Europoors, we get very very little out of our tax money - most social services have ridiculously low thresholds before you get priced out of them. Before I even take my money home 25% of it gets clawed away for taxes, the. at the end of the year I pay several thousand more to keep up Shanequa’s food stamps and diaper funds for her bastard spawn
>>
>>537707048
It’s because of rent and insurance. Rents anywhere with high paying jobs are absurd and will eat into your income unless you’re willing to live around violent blacks. Also in America, insurance is a scam but you need it in order to have a car, go to a hospital etc. Health insurance in particular is completely unaffordable. If those two things were made affordable and brought under control people wouldn’t be struggling half as much.

>A little over €2k a month

Converted to USD that's about $2.2k. I'll even give you a few extra and say $2.5k. For reference, I live in a city in the Midwest: the CHEAPEST option you have for rent and housing.

>$600 goes away to rent if you are trying to live cheap
>This is an apartment in the hood surrounded by niggers where everyone shares laundy utilities assuming you even get that.
>$90 for electricity, water, and utilities
>$100 for car insurance assuming you drive a junker
>$50-100 for the cheapest health insurance
>$100 for your 401k
>$180 for your phone plan and Internet plan together. You're not getting cable, right?
>$80 for gas (assuming you spend $40 at the pump every 2 weeks)
>$120 for groceries, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, trash bags, etc (assuming you buy cheap and in bulk)
That is about $1320 (with cheapest insurance) total with about $1180 remaining. Again, note this is in the niggerinfested hood so I hope to God you feel safe and have a gun. Wanna move somewhere better? That $1180 starts to drop real quick.
Though if we go with the original $2.2k conversion that leaves you with $880.

Could you live on $880-$1180 per month?
>>
>>537708699
I’m gonna call you out as a liar. A 750sqft 1 bed 1 bath in fucking Jacksonville Florida is $1,500 a month in rent and it’s basically section 8 housing, with homeless people around it and people getting shot in the head at gas stations past 10PM

Lots of them also need to pay a few hundred dollars a month in health insurance.

Some Americans legitimately believe that the McMansion, SUV, endless subscriptions, etc. are necessities, and obviously these people are retarded. But that being said, housing and grocery costs have truly gotten out of hand over the last 10 years, and expecting us to live in a cardboard box in Buffuck, Nebraska with 5 roommates and just eat rice and beans is fucking stupid, and kikes parroting that meme belong in an oven. In 2016 I could buy a week of groceries for just over $100; now that exact same week of groceries costs $250. In the meantime, my housing costs have quadrupled, largely due to property taxes increasing to obscene levels. The housing shortage itself is being caused by the importation of tens of millions of subhuman shitskins from mexico, india, and china, driving down the supply. Add in the fact that my income has only increased about 10%, and it's completely understandable why many Americans feel like they're barely keeping their head above water.

>towns fight to ensure they aren't built because they don't want niggers flooding their town
I will explain to you how this actually works: Local government gives building contracts and tax breaks to their buddies in the construction industry in exchange for campaign donations. The (((property developers))) then build some horrible, low-quality apartment complex with a mix of market-rate and low-income apartments. Nobody with a job can actually afford these market-rate apartments, but you know who can? Niggers on Section 8 housing. The building then fills up with niggers and spics on gibs, and the city gets more gibs from the federal government to deal with the increasing crime and poverty. And, of course, White people pay for it all, in more ways than one.

It's fake. If you ask them about their finances, they will dodge and start talking about the Federal Minimum Wage of $7.25/hr. But this is overridden by State Minimum Wage of $16/hr in New York and California. And in actuality, $20/hr is the most common rate for unskilled labor, higher in metropolitan areas.
It's just the strategy of Democrats to get votes. Talk about raising the Federal Minimum Wage, which changes nothing because of State Minimum Wages and will not improve anyone's lives, but they will just talk about it as if it accomplished something. It's all a larp, pretending someone is making $7.25/hr in the most expensive areas of NYC.

Knoxville, not even that close to downtown really, but it all spreads out from there pretty much. It's become real shit, a few years ago big corpo came in and bought up most of the iconic restaurants/locations downtown. They've fucked up all the roads there, and began throwing up those hideous fucking hive apartments all over, the kind I guess that will house scum from other states and eventually the poor bastards that stick around there much longer. The speed and scope of how they've managed to absolutely buttfuck Tennessee, and especially where I live in just maybe 5-6 years is astonishing. Transplant faggots fleeing their failed states have basically turned our once affordable (not for awhile now) housing market upside fucking down. Most everyone that's from here feels pretty irate about it, and this coming on the heels of already having to deal with native niggers and the illegals that have flooded all of us. Not sure if there's a silver lining for us. It's just going to be ruined at this rate. Datacenters to come I'm sure.

NTA but I'd guess Kansas City area for them. World cup city and very low cost of living for a city of its size. I went to school at KU (basically a suburb of Kansas City) and my rent for a 1bed apartment was $550 back in 2017.

I live in a 2bed in Minneapolis today and I pay $1,750, which seems like quite a good deal to me. Florida is just going to be a lot more expensive no matter where you live there because boomers have fucked the real estate market buying vacation/retirement properties.

In my experience dealing with the poor pretty much everything about being poor in America is performative. 90% of these people are in a completely avoidable situation. 90% of those people are in situations that are reversible. The reason that they don't change their situations has everything to do with themselves and nothing to do with anything outside of themselves.
The average family of four living under the poverty line works about 16 hours a week on average. That's 4 hours per person per week. There is no such thing as "the working poor" in America. When you look at a number like that it's impossible to conclude that poverty is largely a choice. But it's a sensible choice for some people. Going to work is a drag. Sometimes it's easier to just live on public subsistence and take whatever you can get. It's an incredible irony the lengths people will go through, the tedious labor they're willing to do, to get every cent they can from a welfare office, while never stepping into an office to do actual work
The most common reason for being in debt in the United States states is medical debt, but this has no impact on your credit rating, can be paid back at basically any rate you want, and it's highly unlikely that you would have to pay all of it.
Poverty is a choice.

Similarly, a 2023 Forbes Advisor survey revealed that nearly 70% of respondents either identified as living paycheck to paycheck (40%) or—even more concerning—reported that their income doesn’t even cover their standard expenses (29%)." - https://archive.ph/0G3Tx

"While 100 million Americans have at least some medical debt, about 7.4% of U.S. residents experience catastrophic healthcare expenses annually, more than double the rate of any other developed nation. Here, medical debt is defined as experiencing problems paying or being unable to afford any medical bills in the past 12 months, including those for doctors, dentists, hospitals, therapists, medication, equipment, nursing home or home care. And the term catastrophic is defined as out-of-pocket spending exceeding 40% of a household’s income after basic necessities have been met. Further, estimates suggest that inability to afford costs of medical care contributes to at least 530,000 personal bankruptcy filings annually. Approximately two-thirds of personal bankruptcies in the U.S. are associated with medical expenses or illness-related loss of work." - https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuacohen/2026/04/05/increasing-burdens-of-medical-debt-and-bankruptcy-are-uniquely-american/

«A couple of years ago, Joseph Shrager, MD, professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford School of Medicine, noticed a statistical anomaly in his practice. It seemed that patients were diagnosed with lung cancer at a surprisingly higher rate at 65 years old than, say, at 64 or 66.»

«The study showed that insured cancer patients (lung, breast, colon, prostate) older than 65 are more likely to undergo surgical intervention, and they had lower five-year cancer-specific mortality rates than did their younger uninsured counterparts.»

«Breast milk samples from mothers in Seattle contain alarming levels of dangerous hormone-disrupting chemicals, including BPA, BPS, melamine, cyanuric acid, and triclosan, new peer-reviewed research has found.

The chemicals present a serious risk to infants because they likely interfere with hormones that are critical to newborns’ proper development, and have been found to be harmful at very low levels of exposure. About 92% of 50 samples were contaminated with at least one of the anti-microbials or plasticizers for which researchers checked.

>impossible to NOT conclude poverty is a choice
I'll leave you with an anecdote. I had a friend who was getting evicted from his home because his mom stopped working and couldn't afford the rent. He got laid off from his job, so he couldn't help. It wasn't a great situation. He once said during a conversation "$500 is all it would take to get me out of this." So I gave him $500. I thought I'd be a generous friend for once, help somebody in need. He promised to pay me back though I never expected him to.
Couple days later he's showing me this limited edition Godzilla DVD box set he got. The thing had to cost at least $300.
>"Uh. You were supposed to use that on rent."
>"Well no, I can use my money however I want."
Lo and behold his mom and him got evicted from their home. I don't talk to him anymore. Every now and again I see him walking around town, looking about 50lbs fatter and 100% more miserable. I would say that I pity him, but his situation is literally his own doing. This is just one example I have of people doing shit like this. Fuck the poor.

I work with multiple people who work two jobs. One of them says she works 80 hours a week, but at the same time she doesn't do much apparently at either of them, mostly stands around complaining. I think it's just single moms who got preggers and have to raise one or more rugrats. As far as guys, they're probably living beyond their means and complaining about it if they work two jobs. On the other hand, low-income housing still costs a fortune in my area, most apartments are $1700/month, I found one cheaper but am just hoping my landlord doesn't die.
Our economy is fucked and jews get all the money. We just bleed out and watch homeless people proliferate at this point.

KC? Can confirm the cost of living in the Midwest is absurdly low. I live in Omaha and am able to afford a house and family on a single income of 73k with money to spare whereas before we both had to work just to make ends meet. Everyone is white and friendly. I moved here from a HCOL costal city and the disparity in the ability for average people to have a decent life is insane. Before my fellow cityfags inb4 about living in the sticks there is a million people in Omaha. It has basically any city amenity you want. Any decent sized Midwest city has enough for 99% of people and the people aren't as brain raped by zog shit so its easy to make friends.

The Jews get "free" hospitals, universal health care, education, paternity and maternity leave, birth grants, monthly allowances, savings accounts, and special Jew police just for them. The average American citizen can't afford groceries or rent, but they give trillions to this parasitic nation.

50% of jewish families get housing benefit.
US taxpayers paying for jewish people to live in private communities, complete with their own schools and emergency services.
They literally take over public school boards and move all the funds for the public school into jewish private schools.

There are entire towns in NJ/NY which consist of tens of thousands of Jews on welfare. The most welfare town in America is a Jewish town in NJ. Basically Jews here are on 2-3 various welfare programs, nobody else has that privilege, only the Jewish Mafia Satangogue types.

It's because

1. American incomes are actually really low. 1/3rd of the US makes less than $15/hour (I'm one of them)
2. It isn't material goods that are the expensive part of America. It's the fees and insurances and life maintenance crap that other countries don't have to deal with.
3. Rent is very high for what you get.
4. Most of America is colder than Europe despite lower latitudes (no oceanic influences for most of us)
5. Cars. A car costs so fucking much, you don't fucking understand. It's way cheaper in Europe having a car. Your car insurance premiums per YEAR are what they cost in the US per MONTH.
5. Taxes aren't really that much lower than Europeans' taxes. Even in le red states.
6. American employers are some of the biggest scammers

There is a hard cap for (mostly) professionals in normal salaried positions between about 95k~135k. This is due to the fact that boomers in the work force are happy with their 135k senior mgmt salary since their major financial liabilities are paid off and their kids are out of the house. This creates a hard ceiling because no boomer will allow some 37 year old to make more than they do even though the younger person most likely has: young children, a mortgage, maybe student loans, maybe a car note, etc.

At the other end you have infinity h1b1 dragging the salaries down due to their quasi professional slave status. Fwiw I’m an architect licensed in six states and have made it to a director level position. The last guy in my position who was shit apparently was a boomer making ~40% more than I do just due to his age and “seniority”.

>$100k+ minimum for one person "just to survive"

Alright, let's see, let's look at estimated US cost of living for a young person:

>$1200 per month for rent
>$350 per month for food
>$150 per month for car insurance
>$200 per month for gas
>$50 per month for car maintenance
>$200 per month for car loan
>$300 per month for student loans
>$400 per month for all utilities

>$2600/month, low-ball estimates, that's $31200 per year, for one person, bare minimum living
>>
>>537725147
domt forget phone and internet and a clothes budget (this shit doesnt past forever) and non-food groceries (paper towels, etc) and any form of pussy

serious answer: i went from poverty (~14k/yr in a high CoL state) to middle class (50k in a middle CoL state)

i think it's hard to understand the jump in quality of life if you've never experienced it. on the low end of income, everything is somehow MORE expensive, and i mean that literally. cars, shoes, healthcare. everything is literally more expensive as in costs you more money than it would if you were middle class.
>>
>>537724637
>this is why billionaireniggers always win

The economy is a 0-sum gain. For one person to be a billionaire in the US, there's others that have to slaughter animals for $9/hour

If everyone is a professional, there's no one to do the slaughtering or cleaning the toilets, etc.
>>
>>537707048
Some places are really expensive and full of niggers. We signal boost the complaints of these places so the people living there STAY THERE.
>>
>>537725147
bad faith argument if it's not even considering the state you live in. rent for $1200 is crazy high in one state, literally nonexistent in others
>>
>>537725385
most of my family is white trash. they waste their money on three huge things: buying everything in smaller higher-unit-cost quantities, gambling (scratchers, machines, everything), and drugs/alcohol. i was a poorfag for many years and i knew better to avoid these traps.
>>
>>537723530
Yeah and mostly in these latin countries, they treat foreigners as gods and as long as you have the money you can easily live in well off areas

The thing that gave it away was $150k. The troll number is ALWAYS $120k-$150k. You gotta be smart enough to make it higher or lower. Look at >>537723595 He at least had a pic to make it semi-believable but gave it away with AI. Also, you immediately going for the YOU MAD BRO angle is autistic sperg at best.
>>
>>537725562
of course, that's how i got out of being poor + luck in finding a real career. i know plenty of people like that. but i also have family that just gets fucked over and over by medical bills. i know families that just have too many kids too young, also stupid of them to do but it's not like they can get out of it now. i know someone who's mom died and he just had to take care of his siblings or send them to foster care so he had to drop out of college. everyone has different circumstances
>>
>>537725643
you think people dont make 150k? lol dude i'm second poorest among my friend group. they got rich with businesses and crypto. im practically a serf among peers. i also started off behind them, to be fair.
>>
>>537725385
It's because it is. But I don't understand how you can even exist off of $14K/year, even if you were homeless. Van life costs about that to be honest, maybe a little less.

>>537725506
I just said low-ball estimates. But also, the median rent in the US for a 1 bedroom is $1400 per month.
>>
>>537715697
> A few days a week.
Uh so what you don't have to pay rent or you don't have to eat food... Coz a few days a week would MAYBE cover your rent.
>>
>>537725029
Nothing but ad hominem because you have no argument. Well done.
>>
>>537725766
so you aren't american or you're retarded or something? reality doesn't work in over-reaching averages. you need to look at it state by state to get a real picture. $50k a year in arkansas is not the same as $50k in hawaii
>>
>>537725737
yeah man i dont mean to sound totally dismissive. most of my family just got a shit hand and either made too big of mistakes to unfuck themselves, or they werent motivated or smart enough. they think the hole they were born in is just how things are. medical bills usually destroy people in these situations. this country is in part built around keeping these peoples anger diverted at strawmen.
>>
>>537707048
Their cost of living is higher than in switzerland, while their wages are lower. Don't let the larpers and shills fool you, america is a jungle where countless people fall by the wayside every year because they can no longer afford basic survival.
>>
>>537725912
i completely agree. mainstream media wants everyone to point at everyone around them for their circumstances instead of rejecting inwards or looking at the systems that benefit from addiction, gambling, and other social ills.
>>
>>537707048
American quality of life is so much higher than everywhere else that we consider having to live like the rest of you to be an intolerable downgrade.
>>
>>537725588
A minimum wage worker in Peru can survive off of that salary or 95% almost despite being $310/month. For a minimum wage worker here, it's only 6x that amount and still you would only be able to afford the rent per month and maybe the food, everything else would be impossible.

I think that if i searched the archives for "150k" or "$150k" and could specifically tie it to anons talking about income I'd find more results than any other number. Again, it's always $120k-$150k.

Americans do spend like morons, however things like food and rent have doubled in cost in the past decade, so the morons have more squeeze than before.
>>
>>537725881
>so you aren't american or you're retarded or something?

I used MEDIAN. Also pic-related. Living wage according to MIT calculator in bumfuck Arkansas is still like $18/hour. The cashiers surely make $11/hour. And I am sure even any Amazon drivers there probably only make $18/hour

ok, retard. my rent is 1500 per month and that is pretty cheap where i live. luckily i make rent in 1-2 days, but most people are not me.

>what are programmer and medical doctor salaries in Finland?

>Everyone can/wants to be a doctor or programmer.

Who is going to slaughter the animals, clean the toilets, transport your goods, pick the items from the warehouse, etc.?

So you see that in the US, the most essential workers aren't paid enough to survive while in Finland they are, but Finnish doctors make much closer to Finnish janny wages.

just fyi, 150k is basically poor here in Hawaii depending where you live. it can get you byin Honolulu for example, but usually still means you and a gf renting a room out of a big house with 4 other people. On the eastside, in a lot of places the median is like 250k like Maunawili.
I can't believe how fucked the entire thing has gotten and you won't find someone who hates the system more than I do. I started out in trades. if my thing now fails I will just build houses and fix cars, things i actually enjoy doing.
Anyway, I gotta get back to work. good luck boys. keep ya chin up.

Its a nuanced situation.

Basically, most Americans really dont make that much. But we have an insanely outperforming top 10%.

We used to have a much more equitable split of the spoils, so it seems like a massive decline to anyone outside the upper echelons of employeed work/succesful biz owners.

Its also entitled whining in a way- Americans comparatively were way fucking richer in the past. All the middling people, families in terms of income are to higher living standards. They dont cut back on luxuries, because the US was so rich that many of these things weren't considered luxury.

Tldr its both, plebs getting squeezed hard af, but they wont stop buying dumb shit and pretending they arent poor.

The irony is that since Americans have to fork out shit tons of money for education, a lot of Americans aren't becoming doctors anymore because it's too much of a risk with the debt, so Rajeesh or Muhammad from a country with free/low cost education comes here as a doctor instead...
>>
>>537707048
America has the "k shaped" economy. If you have assets(real estate) and stocks, you are flush with cash and love life.
If you have a job chances are it barely covers rent and utilities, and all the people with lots of money think you're insane.
The largest demographic is the baby boomer generation, which is rich as fuck from simply buying a house 10+ years ago. This is why consumer spending is high despite 80% of the population drowning in the cost of living. Boomers with reverse mortgages and HELOC loans are buying everything, going on frequent vacations, and propping up the sale of luxury goods. Those people are also the largest voter base and they are the majority of politicians. They are ignorant to the plight of 80% of the population and they can keep spending without them.
As a result you get the MSM and richfags scratching their heads because they don't see how anyone can be poor. Even worse, they gaslight anyone complaining because deflation means the end of the party for the asset/investor class.

It also explains why Americans still hold on the illusion of muh cars and muh giant houses.

It was all fine and dandy when Boomers had shit tons of money to make everything ridiculously far away and remove corner stores and houses ridiculously big, but now, we are suffering the consequences because Americans are very poor
