>>537779495Not true. I went to a Mennonite high school from 2003-2005. Mennonites do not wear Amish-style clothes, they mostly wear regular clothes. The more devout women wear a hair-net but it’s uncommon. They listen to music, play vidya, play sports, etc. really the only thing that’s particularly different about them compared to other conservative Christian denominations is their pacifism. They are stalwart pacifists.

>>537776437When I was growing up in central NY, my neighbors were Mennonites. Good people. They ended up buying up a lot of farms in the area because small family farms couldn't survive as factory farming pushed them out of the market, but the Mennonites were still willing to work the land anyway so they just sort of ended up with these small family farms that no one else could afford to live on. We had maple trees in our yard, and the Mennonite kids would come by and tap them for sap every year, in return we'd get one bottle of maple syrup and they would sell the rest as their little family shop they ran. We also had an unspoken but nevertheless ironclad agreement that when one of their cows got loose we'd help them catch it, and if one of our horses ever got out they would help us catch it.

>>537776437There’s tons of them here in Pennsylvania. They own a lot of farms. I have some livestock and we grow some fruit and vegetables and eggs but most of the food we eat we buy from them. They all have small food shops on their property. We also bought a pool shed and a swing set for the kids that they delivered for us. They are friendly and very religious hard working people. With that said I have absolutely no idea what they’re doing in fucking Bolivia. They are not Evangelists so they don’t recruit like other Christians so I can only think they are there for cheap land.
