1) Most states are "at-will" work states, so they can fire you for almost any reason, or even no reason at all. Makes it easier to get hired though - way less paperwork on either end.

2) Most major corporations already have some kind of morality clause in their employment contracts, and this clause means that ANY of your misconduct, on or off the clock, can be used as justification for punishment, up to and including termination of your employment. "If you wanna work here, you gotta not be a fucking retarded thug or it'll hurt our company image/reputation".

Point 2 is interesting because it offers justification for punishment but doesn't require it. They CAN fire you for immoral behavior, or they can keep you on staff, as long as your immoral behavior aligns with the other exec's immoral behavior. Eating babies is cool, everyone is doing it!

You can't be a slave if you signed the contract for X number of hours of labor at Y wages - you willingly and consciously, of your own free will, agreed to that deal. At-will puts employees and employers on roughly equal footing with regards to freedom, to work, or to not work. The non at-will states are much more akin to enslaving BOTH employer and employee.

At will just means employers can terminate your livelihood whenever you act "out of line", which is also decided by them.
It forces employees who want to retain their job to do shit the contract doesn't even specify because they are immediately replaceable.
Employees are always the weaker partner in an employment contract so "enslaving" both sides to uphold contracts is beneficial to them.
I would liken it to having a mandatory life insurance policy increase in cost every time the company wants more money, but seeing your flag, that's probably already the case.
