They are just too poor to afford it. Too poor to modify their apartments/old houses for central AC, too poor to afford the electricity to run it, too poor for the AC unit itself. It's hilarious watching them cope about how they just don't need it because the temperatures are more "moderate" yet like 50000 europoors die every year of heat stroke, vs maybe 3000 Americans (when the US has a FAR harsher climate). They give us shit about school shootings yet if you added up all school shootings victims in the US ever, it would be less than how many europoors die of heat stroke an average summer day.

I haven't even turned mine on yet this year. But, I have it. Why not? For a couple of months out of the year, my electricity bill goes from $40-50 a month to $90. That's a fair trade. It's not that expensive.
