I was
glad when Feder finally came to a close. I had observed enough and was
just about to leave when an open discussion period was announced; I
decided to stay. At first this was just more of the same, when suddenly a
‘professor’ began to speak. He opened by throwing doubt on the accuracy
of what Feder had said, and then—after Feder’s able reply—the professor
suddenly began arguing on what he called ‘the basis of facts.’ He
recommended that the young party take up ‘secession’ from ‘Prussia.’ In a
most self-assured way, this man kept insisting that German-Austria should
join Bavaria, and that the peace would then function much better...and
other nonsense. At this point, I felt bound to ask for permission to speak
and to tell the learned gentleman what I thought. As a result, and even
before I finished, he slipped out of the hall like a wet poodle.

“The new German racial church will make changes in the Roman ritual. It will abandon sermons about slaves and scapegoats and the lamb of god. It will forget about claiming that Peter founded the Roman church. There will be no more talk of the fulfilment of the old testament, of Indulgences or of miraculous powers. A corresponding alteration of external rites will also have to result. We will work hand in hand with the great literature of enlightenment, which is to be spread by the spiritual heads of the German church within their existing communities. From this new inward attitude toward the image of Jesus, however, there also results an unconditionally necessary if seemingly only outward alteration: the replacement of the crucifixes representing the tortured crucifixion in churches and on the village streets. The crucifix is the allegory of the teaching of the sacrificial lamb, an image which brings before our mind the collapse of all powers. Through this horrid representation of pain the church produces inward oppression and makes us humble. This serves the church well in its search for power. Admittedly the representations of Germanic knights and gods have been preserved in saint George, saint Martin, saint Oswald, but thus far they lead only a subordinated existence.”

“The church in northern Europe has not been reduced as yet to kissing the bloody, suppurating wounds of the crucified Christ figure. The Roman church encourages this practice among many of the South American faithful. Without question the figure of the sorrowful crucified Christ has become the means by which Rome rules the souls of its adherents. [...] Our awakening feeling of life does not recognise the ideal of flagellation. A real crucifixion can, as already elaborated, be today neither painted nor sculptured nor versified nor set to music. The entire German artistic community which today makes efforts with vegetable still lifes have only recently been appointed the guardians of the German soul. The churches and communities of the German church will ensure that at old sacred places of pilgrimage the bastard art products of the Baroque period bearing Jesuit approval are replaced with paintings and statues appropriate to our church. We will show an Aryan Jesus as the bringer of life who appears alongside the god with the spear. There will be other pictures; some depicting the sayings of Meister Eckehart and other German preachers.”

“Political parties have no right to meddle in religious questions except when these relate to something that is alien to the nation and thus calculated to undermine racial customs and morals. In the same way, religion must not be mixed up with party politics. If some ecclesiastical dignitaries should misuse religious institutions or religious 131teachings to injure their own ration, their opponents ought never to take the same road and fight them with the same weapons. To a political leader, the religious teachings and institutions of his people should be sacred and inviolable; otherwise, he should not be a statesman, but a reformer, if he has the necessary qualities for such a mission.”

Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, 1925/26, Stalag Edition

Because they were the conservatives and the Nazis were socialists just like communists. They would rather have a monarchy and be close with the church than to wave a red flag. They are eternally buck broken by Rome.
>>
>>537849674
They're also adjacent to us and we too were like: this type of a thing ain't our thing, both the domestic and the international views. No, we're not exactly the monarchists.
>>

But the Swiss had to fight to not have a king for centuries. Bavarians have always wanted a kaiser, have they not?
>>
>>537850046
There's that, but I mean nearly all of our neighbors' closely adjacent reegions also had over a century to be like "the justwerks place over there that really has an extremely noticeable tendency to pick pretty good choices do/don't seem to x y and z".

Same thing for us in the past, but for >100y we've kind-of been an anomaly for a country with mainly decent rainfall (if you have all the water works to not get it hit you in too much volume from the mountains funneling in a lot in short time) and not much else. There's really rather noticeable influence around the border regions.

The Nazis were not socialists, though what they believed in was antithetical to Christian teaching. Only Fascist Austria, for the brief period it existed, largely maintained a Catholic-orientated state without the wanton lawlessness and state violence of Nazi Germany. They were, as one put it, the last true bearers of German civilisation.

gobineau was a strong influence on hitler & frequently quoted in mein kampf, ns criticism of christianity boils down to the fact that christianity is not concerned with worldly matters & is thus wholly useless for politics & statecraft–
it should simply be regarded as a revitalizing idea not a worldview that will help one get things done *in* this world, as christ said: "My kingdom is not of this world."

“We do not, however, find that Christianity has ever given the world a unique type of civilization to which all believers had to belong. The Church adapts itself to everything, even to the mud-hut; and wherever there is a savage too stupid even to understand the use of shelter, you are sure to find a devoted missionary sitting beside him on the hard rock, and thinking of nothing but how to impress his soul with the ideas essential to salvation. Christianity is thus not a civilizing power in the ordinary sense of the word; it can be embraced by the most different races without stunting their growth, or making demands on them that they cannot fulfil. I said above that Christianity elevates the soul by the sublimity of its dogmas, and enlarges the intellect by their subtlety. This is only true in so far as the soul and intellect to which it appeals are capable of being enlarged and elevated. Its mission is not to bestow the gift of genius, or to provide ideas for those who are without them. Neither genius nor ideas are necessary for salvation. Indeed the Church has expressly declared that it prefers the weak and lowly to the strong. It gives only what it wishes to receive. It fertilizes but does not create. It supports but does not lift on high. It takes the man as he is, and merely helps him to walk. If he is lame, it does not ask him to run.”

The inequality of human races, Joseph Arthur de Gobineau, 1853–1855
