>Germany proposes cuts in spending on drugs
>USA threatens with tariffs
>Boehringer Ingelheim, a German pharmaceutical company, is scaling back planned R&D investments in Germany in response to the proposed German legislation
But why? I thought this was about American pharmaceutical companies.

The German government should just set up a government company that manufactures overpriced drugs and sells them at cost.
All governments should, really. Fuck pharma companies. Fuck their profits. Fuck their board members. And especially fuck their shareholders.

Corporations as far as I understand it aren't as separate from government as we are led to believe. If you look into the history of corporations it started with royal charters and things like The East India Company. It was the government that gave special privileges to a business for doing things like building bridges. They really are an arm of the government. This is something I'm researching and that's why this story interests me.

>The U.S. has launched an investigation into Germany’s pharma policies over what it referred to as “persistent underpayment” for medicines as the European country looks to limit spiraling healthcare costs, including spending on drugs.
>“President Trump has made clear that American patients should not be shouldering a disproportionate share of global pharmaceutical research and development,” said U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in a statement late Thursday.
>“I am particularly concerned with news that Germany is fast-tracking legislation that would further reduce its spending on innovative pharmaceuticals,” he said, calling it “a serious step backwards.”
