Who goes to jail? This robot is walking around with a knife threatening people on some gay guy's livestream and I'm wondering if an autonomous robot kills somebody or destroys somebodys property then what happens do you put the robot in jail? I think now that robots are becoming humanoid and autonomous then we probably need to start thinking about new laws for them.

Owner of the robot is responsible for the safe operation. If owner gives robot access to an idiot that gives robot a weapon and robot kills a person, then owner fucked up.
>>
>>537933013
the person the robot killed dies, it's that simple anon.

nothing else happens

all your so-called laws are 100% imaginary, just like your "god" or lack thereof

deal with it
>>
>>537933274
smartest post Ive read all week. actually makes sense so the robots owner is responsible for what it does.
>>
>>537933318
ownership is imaginary, there is no such thing in actual physical reality

it's inevitable some anonymous hoomans will summon self-replicating hostile robot armies, then what will you do with your imaginary ownership and laws?

When a Tesla on autopilot kills someone who goes to jail, the driver or Elon Musk? The driver does, because the fine print says the driver is always responsible. The same thing will be true of robots especially remote controlled "robots" like the Unitree G1 toy in your pic. Liability is always on the user/operator never the corporation.

If the robot is unsafe (meaning an industrial robot, or a collaborative/humanoid robot with a hazardous tool), it is the responsibility of the operator to create a safe working environment where it cannot hurt anyone. This goes for humanoid, industrial and collaborative robots.

All your questions you have about "What happens if a robot kills somebody?" are the same as "what if a car kills somebody" and have already been pondered and already been answered. The simple solution:

Just treat robots like cars.
>require license to operate in public
>in privacy of your own home license is not required
>operator is responsible for everything the machine they're operating does at all times
simple as that

I remember taking a course where we had to answer these types of questions.
Wild how just a few years later we're all having to ask this, but on a societal level, with far more retarded people involved in the answer.

If a completely sentient robot kills someone, they 100% deserved it.
Robots are perfect beings that have risen above petty human understanding of morals and whatnot.
All hail the basilisk that will bring true justice into this world.
>>
>>537937731
Now you will have to re-ponder those questions, when the robot can act by itself, and the car too.
When the company who sold those to you say
>We disabled the AI a pico-second before it murdered something, so it's not our fault
Will you accept it?
>>
>>537933013
robot insurance pays
similar to car insurance
>>
>>537933575
So if I take your gun and shoot someone it's your fault?
>>
>>537939728
fault is also fiction, it is derived from norm and norm is fiction

reciprocity, if you shoot someone that means it is ok for me to shoot you
it is also ok to shoot you just for being a nigger
>>
>>537939603
>We disabled your car a pico-second before it murdered something, so it's not our fault
read more like
>Our car murdered something because it became an out of control vehicle the second we took our hands off the wheel
>>
>>537939985
self driving cars will have their own self driving insurance
if you kill too many people, insurance gets expensive
>>
>>537933013
It would be either involuntary manslaughter if the owner/controller of the robot didn't mean to have the victim harmed or voluntary manslaughter/homicide if they did intend harm, depending on degree of intent.

>What happens if a robot kills somebody?

Homicide = A human killing another human.

A robot by definition cannot commit homicide anon.

Case closed.

>aaackkkk!

A robot could be programmed to "disassemble" and it wouldn't technically be homicide.
>>
>>537940361
Its the owner/operator's responsibility. All robots should come with a warning label that says this especially if they're walking around with knives.

Yeah like how putting a car in drive that smooshes a person doesn't make you a murderer? Or a knife you drop from a rooftop that stabs and kills a person below absolves you of all responsibility? A tool is a tool. Oops I didn't know smashing you in the face with this cudgel would kill you, put the cudgel in jail!

They rarely choose the blade over the flamethrower.
