If capitalism is so great then why is the computer industry such a mess
>>
>>537961706
Why they needed to raise price when it's tech is more outdated by more find time?
>>
>>537961706
At first, capitalism is good, after a while, the power accumulates/concentrates on just a few players, then its not so good anymore, also called "late stage capitalism" <-- you are living in it. In the past, it was solved by very high wealth tax to distribute the wealth again, i think roosevelt did this.

It's great for the companies making ram and SSDs.

Also great for me since I've sold all the vintage PCs I had going back to DDR2 systems for 3X the price.

Resources are being allocated away from video games and towards AI. Some of that reallocation is driven by consumers using AI, some of it is driven by investors speculating that more consumers are going to use AI. In the end this is the best way to determine how much of our resources should go to each industry.

Also if you're over 14 and care about video games then you're a faggot.

You can view it as the monopoly board game, at first its fun and you can roam freely on the board, after a while, only 1-2 players accumalte all the wealth and every move on tje board becomes super expensive, then you become bancrupt...
>>

i can literally only play minecraft on that piece of garbage if I disable the internet connection
not joking

Here's the thing, the triple-a gaming industry, as it is known currently, is only continuing on year to year because of the amount of hype money and funding provided by third party sources or by the companies that make the games themselves. It is pretty analogous to a zombie that only continues shambling because of continued cash meals. The big hype days of E3 and midnight releases and actual advancements between consoles are over for the time being. There are decent gyms here and there like the more recent God of war installment and the Witcher 3, but like I said those days where you had a dozen different game of the years coming out in 2007 are over. There's no reason to pay 700 Bucks for a new xbox with a slightly better frame rate and slightly bigger hard drive when I can Get as much enjoyment out of a PSP with playstation one games or FFTacticsAdvance on my DS.

Part of it is also the fact that these prices keep going up and the build time and development times keep going longer... Just for the games to be released broken. It makes it feel like the development teams that produce final fantasy vii or Call of Duty modern warfare we're working with black magic that's been lost to the ages... Being able to release a game that is actually finished on release date.

Whether you think it's because of the unions or the dei hires, I'm sure is a little bit of everything but like I said the result is a gaming industry that is only really continuing on because esport ad placement.

I also think that amazing generational tier things like skyrim don't come across very often and probably aren't very creatible. Just looking at Bethesda and the cluster fuck that is them trying to come out with a new fallout or a new elder scrolls and you just know that the eventual end results of whatever they produce is never ever going to be as good as skyrim. There are YouTube channels that have a better handle on the lower and history than the actual people who make the game at this point.

Devs were better back in the 80s and 90s because they didnt do meme "video game dev" degrees. They were programmers and comp sci majors.
They made great games because they could solve problems. Need 8 bit music? OK gimme 30 mins. Entire game cant go over 14mb? Ok gimme a day.
Take some nerd who did a uni degree in 2015, he cant figure out shit, he was trained to make hubcaps and "print "hello world"". The companies hire 150 graphic designers and 200 programmers to do work that took 3 guys in the 90s.
The real bonus from old devs is their creativity. You cant experiment or use duct tape/superglue to hold shit together as hubcap designer #123, so you never get creative.
A really good example of this is an old game "betrayal at kondor". The devs reached out to Raymond e feist to write the story for the game set in his book series universe. The smug author says "you cant afford me" and sells them licenced rights instead.
They wrote the story themselves and it was so good the faggot author actually wrote a book based on the games story.
This is why zoomers are fucked, alphas even moreso. They wont ever understand the creative mind isn't some fag shit cunt female, its a dude who understands systems enough to manipulate them for the outcome he wants in ways that normies can't understand.

Governments (especially the US and China) are pushing massive investment in AI causing this mess. That's not capitalism.

FREE MARKET capitalism is the best, but parasitic central banks in the monetary layer oversupplying currency is going to fuck whatever you put in the economic layer.

Because capitalism turned into a pile of financing scams. All this shit is cartoonishly impractical and the final AI "product" would be unaffordable in comparison to actual wagies being paid very well.
I strongly suspect this is more about surveillance and pricing the average person out of personal computing.
>>
>>537961706
AI that is being bankrolled by taxdollar, go ahead and say that the government subsidizing companies is capitalism.
>>
>>537964060
Every issue we have would be far worse without a central bank anon.
The entire purpose of separating the printing of money from the governing body is to prevent what happened in Turkey, and Zimbabwe. Stop being dumb.

During the pandemic I got ambitious and was going to build a NAS with RAID to centralize all my files into a redundant system that could easily be backed up. Instead I binge watched a bunch of stuff I had been meaning to catch up on. I had a dozen SATA III SSDs for the project. Sold them recently for 4X what I paid for them five years ago. Who the fuck needs SATA III in current year? I don't know but I sold them in a single lot to a single buyer. Being lazy paid off for once.

the fact that it is such a mess is why it is so great.

Capitalism is like fire: only useful when under control.

>Consumer products are going up in price because our government has given the go ahead for tech companies to ignore copyright law to create technology that will, in their own estimates, eliminate literally 10s of millions of high paying white collar jobs and potentially destroy capitalism as we know it
>>
It's fake. It's not organic. Prices are getting higher and higher because they don't want you to own a PC or even console anymore. Rent it in the cloud. That's what they want. It's all fucking theater. At one point it's going to be some Amazon x Nvidia bullshit
>>
>>537963979
The government getting involved isn't a bug, it's a feature. When you're rich you get to buy off the government.
