Occupy Wall Street was a left-wing populist protest movement that began in September 2011 in Zuccotti Park, New York City, to oppose economic inequality, corporate greed, and the undue influence of money in politics. Sparked by public anger over the 2008 financial crisis and the Great Recession, the movement utilized the slogan "We are the 99%" to highlight the vast wealth disparity between the richest one percent of the population and the rest.

I remember this happening clear as day. It was maddening because it was when I woke up for the first time. I was already on 4chan for /v/ and occasionally /b/ (was in the OG Habbo raids). I don't remember if I went to /pol/ before or during OWS but it was around that time I started getting my first true red pills and for that time, it was unbelievable because nobody believed the government was BAD corrupt. Everyone thought it was just individuals and a few small conspiracies, but overall the system was working for our benefit and problems were just unintentional. So when all the illusions dropped on my head all at once thanks to this goddamn beautiful disgusting message board, I remember pushing OWS everywhere I could and telling everyone about it because it seemed like the first time people had ever addressed the corruption on a large scale pointing the finger directly at those responsible. So when the GODDAMN SJWS showed up and started snatching the microphones and talking about racism and gay shit when literally everyone there just recently were only talking about economics and the blatant criminal fraud happening. It was hard transition bros. I literally depersonalized for a few months. I remember my brother in law laughing and saying "What's wrong? The man got you down?" and I just knew that he knew nothing of how bad things were and how much worse they were going to get. People were so blissfully unaware back then, including myself. The transition for me was like a car wreck.
