They are. Literally every prison in the United States operates under federal PREA laws, the prison rape elimination act. Every claim of prison rape has to be thoroughly investigated and dealt with as of it were real when the claim is made.

This does include things like “Elon musk is raping me in the ass through a microchip in my brain”

Not all prisons follow prea, just like not all burger kings follow food safety guidelines, but it is applicable to all of them.

Inmates are not allowed to have sex. If caught having sex they generally get sent to confinement. They are legally unable to consent.

I have no opinion on the matter, really, just wanted to share a bit of info from my time working in the field. Really interesting job.

Inmates should file a class action suit against the warden, all of the gaurds, and state/feds for their intentional rape factory. There is no reason the inmates can not be controlled to the point they can do no harm to anyone inside. Just lock them down 24/7 and put on minimal diet to keep them in check. The violated their right to their rights by committing crimes against others, but the state needs to be held accountable for its role in continuous rape factory.
