Looking at Russia's air defense system, it was almost entirely concentrated in the capital region and one or two major cities. That is why Russia is unable to cope with Ukraine's attacks on gas stations in Russian provinces.

this is a common misconception. russia produces very little gas for use in cars. in fact they import most of it. russia is a massive producer of oil and natural gas. but not the super refined stuff that you put in cars. they only barely produce enough for use at home. so when a refinery goes down, shortages immediately appear. unlike crude oil of which they have infinite amounts. but you cant put that in your car.
At least they don't imprison corrupted politicians.
