First-ever Brighton Queer Prom is launched

A new event has been created to “give LGBTQ+ young people in Sussex a prom experience where they feel welcomed, safe, and celebrated.”

Hosted by Allsorts Youth in partnership with Brighton & Hove Museums, the event will take place on July 10 at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, transforming the space into a “night of music, art and queer joy for LGBTQ+ young people aged 16–21.”
>>
Nancy Kelley, CEO of Allsorts, said: “Prom season will never be the same.

“For years too many LGBTQ+ young people in Sussex have skipped prom or felt out of place and unwelcome. This year everything changes.

“Brighton Queer Prom 2026 will welcome LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-21 to a celebration of everything that is wonderful about our community.”

It will be the “prom night every LGBTQ+ young person deserves.”
>>
Nancy added: “At Allsorts we’re on a mission to make sure every LGBTQ+ young person in Sussex can make friends, build community and feel proud of who they are. Brighton Queer Prom is all about that – this is a night for LGBTQ+ young people to feel seen, celebrated and surrounded by joy.”

Hedley Swain, CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums, said: “We’re proud to open the doors of Brighton Museum & Art Gallery for Brighton Queer Prom and help create a space where LGBTQ+ young people can celebrate freely and authentically. Hosting the event in our Central Gallery will transform the Museum into a place filled with joy, creativity and connection, values that are at the heart of both Brighton & Hove Museums and our city.”

Brighton Queer Prom will be held on July 10th, at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, and

will run from 6.30-9.30pm. Tickets are available for free at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/brighton-queer-prom-2026-tickets-1989544932450

>prom, but it's at an art gallery, and also gay and in england

It serves as a proxy shit test. If you are bothered by it, you disqualify yourself from assoication. If you do not openly endorse it, you disqualify yourself for soft-bigotry ("Silence is violence"). In other words, the function is not the event in itself, but the role and events like it play as markers of luxurary beliefs. It gets used by the contemproary elite to sniff out ideological oponents.
