JPost: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz says Israel is developing space-based laser weapons capable of carrying out attacks above the Earth, calling the project a strategic priority for the country’s future defence capabilities. “As of today, no country has the ability to mount attacks in space. We must be the leading country in the world with this capability,” Katz said. He added that achieving the capability would strengthen Israel’s deterrence and provide a decisive advantage against its adversaries. The announcement follows Israel’s development of the Iron Beam laser defence system and comes as Israeli officials increasingly describe space as the next major domain of warfare, citing growing concerns over threats to satellites and other space-based assets.
