I'm literally a weeb who moved to Japan and my attitude towards Cool Japan is a vague awareness it existed. I'm not sure how good a job it was doing.From a quick wikipedia check, they did invest in Sentai Filmworks (thank you, probably watched something from them) but most I get the sense that most Japanophilia abroad had little to nothing to do with their involvement.
