I am an American on vacation in Italy. Every single decision I’ve made, from booking a hotel to eating at a restaurant, has been driven purely by availability and quality of air conditioning. I’m sitting in my hotel right now with the AC set to 16°C. I witnessed someone collapse from heat on the street yesterday. I literally cannot fathom how people live without AC. It would be like someone telling me they live without water. Even in American buildings without properly functioning AC (albeit rare), like my college freshman dorm about a decade ago, there are fans EVERYWHERE. Not a single hotel I’ve seen here has ceiling fans. I’m not even trying to shit on Europe, I actually really love it here, but how do you people live like this??
>>
To be fair the environment here is intended for us rugged European people that can take mild discomfort for a few weeks, not some American sissy.
