Exiled "Dissident" Miles Guo Gets 30 Years for $1B Fraud

Miles Guo, the Chinese tycoon who positioned himself as a fierce anti-CCP crusader, was sentenced Monday to 30 years in a Manhattan federal prison. A jury convicted him of duping online followers, drawn by his fiery criticisms of Beijing, into "investments" that funded his lavish life: a 152-ft superyacht and a Sherry-Netherland penthouse.

Judge Analisa Torres: “Mr. Guo preyed on people who sought to bring democracy to China,” stealing funds meant for pro-democracy causes for an “extravagant lifestyle.” Victims suffered massive financial and emotional harm.
