Ask me anything /pol/
>>538142694I don't know guns. I have a question. 3D printed guns can't have the plastic actually be a part that takes a lot of pressure, right? There's metal wherever it needs to hold the blast so it doesn't blow your hand off, or am I mistaken? If there is some minimum metal and the plastic just holds them together, wiring, gluing, etc. Wouldn't it be trivial to make that out of wood instead, with zero expensive 3D printers and filaments and all that bullshit?Honest question from a retard who knows nothing, please do call me a retard if I'm talking nonsense.
>>538142694How many rounds before it explodes officer? Also, eglin or pine gap?
>>538142694Why are you not on /k/?
>>538142694How much was the parts kit? I know in the US you'll need to get a separate barrel too since they're cut when the gun is demilled
>>538142918Because he is talking about a firearm and not ukranian gay furry sex, like /k/ does now.
>>538142886The only plastic is the lower receiver, like most 3D2A builds. There are fully plastic ones, but usually (as far as I've seen anyways) about 1000 rounds then toss. Some of the .22 ones have gone 3000+ because of the small round. The FGC-9 mk2 really was impressive though, maintained those things last a long time. The AR15 platform is one where replacing the lower every 1500 rounds is just a half hour of time.
>>538142918Have you been on /k/ in the last 4+ years? Practically unusable since Russia invaded Ukraine and NAFO toons raided the board
>>538142937With barrell installed, 299. The entire thing (not including printer) was 599 with ammo

>>538143050Fun project. Have you tried printing an AR receiver? My friend gave me one but I never played with it since stripped receivers are already so easy to come by
>>538143005Thanks. I now realize I know even less than I thought I knew.
>>538142694As someone who knows nothing about this niche part of 3D printing, how scalable is something like this? Also what's your favorite fun fact you've learned from this project that really surprised you?
>>538143231Thats on my list when I have some more funds. I'm a bit poor at the moment. It was a fun project. I want to take it to a range for two full mags test, then just keep as a personal defense weapon, and I'll print more stuff later.Odysee + LBRY was a brilliant way to keep these designs up indefinitely using a blockchain.
>>538142886You can print titanium. The future is fun.
>>538142886It takes a lot more effort to wood carve the parts than to 3D print them while you do something else
>>538143378>how scalable is something like this? The community really exploded after the FGC-9 showed that a plastic rifle can endure 1,000s of rounds with just a metal barrel. Check out gatalog and defense distributed.>Also what's your favorite fun fact you've learned from this project that really surprised you?How modular gun parts can be if you can design the receiver, surprised me. Example, my lower is a Czech design modified with CAD for an AR15 trigger, turning a 40 piece trigger into a 5 peice trigger.

>>538142694how many hours total did it take to make? (not including waiting for the mail and stuff like that, only actual work hours)
>>538143417Nylon PA6/PA12 is currently the most popular for this kind of application. I really want to build a cheap aluminum casting furnace, but I need to pay off some stuff and cant just drop 2 grand on that right now.
>>538143622About 5 hours, with an additional 2 for Epoxy (you can see where all the Epoxy is, i needed to reinforce where the mag release button is because the AR15 trigger springs put stress on that part)But I also had very little experience with guns, other than shooting a revolver a long time ago
>>538143550Neat, outside of this gun project what do you see yourself working on next?I'll look into what you referenced, I'll admit - guns aren't really my thing but I've been curious on making some whimsical animatronics.
>>538143652Is that it is. Gud thred.
hey op, did u get a new nightstand?
>>538143401If you get a .22 with a threaded barrel you might have fun with a 3D printed suppressor. Me and my buddy didn't end up testing a couple designs in Minecraft and they were surprisingly quiet with subsonics. Maybe hearing safe from a Tx22 with bulk ammo runs great too

Think of it like a Pokémon card.Prob just keep working and building things for now.>I'll look into what you referenced, I'll admit - guns aren't really my thing but I've been curious on making some whimsical animatronics.Guns were the big test of 3D printing. Cody Wilson fought a lot of hate early on, and good for him for perseverance. The maker community should have helped him get this on the radar, like it's basically the "worst" (according to them) thing you can "make," so let's get it legal and move on!

>>538143793Need more gud threads like old times, after HWNDU went to shit imo
>>538142694I would be scared to fire that, I dont trust 3d printed guns. I have no interest in creating a gun but how come people dont use mini CNC machines instead?

>>538144265Potato guns are fun.
>>538143902Silly to lose sleep over 3D printed guns, already so many guns in circulation at this point it's just enthusiasts having fun

>>538144337Cost. This entire project cost me 599. A factory original vz61, because of the trigger mechanism and dumb laws, is closer to 8,000 dollars.I was not scared to fire it, I was scared of a jam or malfunction. It fired flawlessly, however I can see this will probably not get over 1,000 rounds before I need to print a new lower.

>>538143501i saw something years ago, maybe in gettysburg, maybe on tv, that the civil war rifles wooden parts were made with repeating lathes. they had the master and the chisel followed the contours on the blank.this seems something much more adoptable and under the radar than a plastic making machine that will get you put on a watchlist. and the afghans could copy just about any rifle out there and do a pretty good job of it with comparatively crude setups. none of this is as fast or convenient as 3d printing, i know. you can get duplicating jigs as well as treadle powered lathes too if you want to make your own gun stock off grid. so lower tech is more disaster proof, but maybe not ideal for most people.but at the end of the day we are comparing ways of making hand blower offers. shiggy.
>>538142694i tested out my optic today. fuckin thing is like lock on from gta iii, never miss unless my vision is obstructed and i still take the shot, which is often.
so did you donate it or just relocate it to another room?
>>538144648.32 ammo is more expensive than 9mm, weaker, and harder to find. Its similar to .25ACP in the price not justifying the performance. They make a .32 Magnum round also, it has about the same performance as a 9mm, I doubt his fires those, but once again way more expensive and hard to find.
>>538144135Yes and no. I don't like feeling paranoid on a dirt road 100 miles from Phoenix, just to test a round. But building it was fun and educational.
>>538144804Is that an Eotech? I have an Aimpoint Pro that I really like, but Eotechs look cooler in my opinion.
>>538144775The PPS-43 was made with lathes, chisels and basic presses; it took only 3 hours to make, and it was the most reliable, simple, and economically viable SMG of World War II, at least if I remember that right.

>>538145039Also a spicy pistol cartridge for the time, 7.62x25. Bottlenecked with a relatively lightweight projectile. Funny since the soviets were just making everything a variation of the same chamber diameter to save on tooling. Accidentally made a good round especially for an SMG
>>538144946i was interested in either a comp m4 or a t2 but they were both over 1000 dollars without even having a mount installed, so i bought the eotech for about half the price instead. some day I'll probably buy a t2 or something.
>>538142886Depends on the design and materials. You have designs with pipes for barrels to squeeze out a bit more lifespan instead of purely plastic barrels which is true for many zip guns. 3d printed weaponry has its own distinct design philosophy and depends on what materials you have available along with whatever design you choose to use. So it can vary wildly. Purely plastic stuff does exist with I think the exception being the firing pin.

>>538145561>3d printed weaponry has its own distinct design philosophy and depends on what materials you have available along with whatever design you choose to use.Yes, but that's part of the fun. A new space, about the object itself and less what it is used to do. Thats what the gun controllers still fail to realize. You dont want gun enthusiasm to become explosives enthusiasm. I had fun and learned building this. Maybe you want to oversee your teen if this is their interest. I get it, but remember, boomers could buy .22 rifles at the dollar store.
>>538145809What happened to you. They cut off my combat pay so I had 38 people brutally murdered and went a wall.Right so who did it?It had to be a person on the list right? What did he look like? What was his name? What was his rank?I don't know he just kept yelling at me to kill them all.You get what you pay for fuckers.

>>538145809The last time I was there, it was to thank some anons who got me a sick ass deal for a milsurp imported high quality AK for a fraction of the price. I got banned when talking about AKs in the fucking AK thread. /k/ommandos would use to hook you up with amazing deals whenever they came up. Most of the time it was cop surplus but goodies from the military was also possible. The rarest were the imports. Those glorious bastards found me an amazing deal on an AK for a limited number of imported AKs from a specialized import company that turned out to be stupidly high quality when I got my hands on it. Fucking unbelievable the kinda shit they would hook you up with.>>538145986Yeah, but that anon was clueless, which is why I elaborated. There is a very distinct and unique weapon philosophy that has developed in those circles. Makes that one based brit dream finally become reality. This shit is something any layman can put together with whatever crap they have available and the designs keep improving every year.Compare that to the stagnant MIC and there is a reason they are so pissy about it. Gun controllers have realized its impossible to stop which is why they are targeting munitions. In response they started developing their own munitions too. Specifically I think they were betting on the 3d printed plastic shells with electric primers to bypass. Been a while since I last checked.
No more foolish naive stands. Hollywars
>>538146131Right.When William Clinton was robbed of the keys to the nuclear football I promptly offered 2 stg 44 for who ever had information to find the guy A girl in a chat room curled me but didn't want the reward. During that time two big fat kikes that had never been over seas began attacking my friends say that thouse two guns belong to them because they are muhh Nazi hunters. Out of all my guns of course the most expensive one belongs to sholomo.Ohh fuck off. But that story is not kosher.
>>538144775That's how almost all mass-manufactured wooden rifle stocks were made from the 1850s up until fairly recently. Nonsense about the Afghan stuff though, 99% of everything they make is trash and not safe to fire more than a handful of times at best. There's a pervading idea that something like the AK is so simple and cheap to manufacture that a couple of kids can bash one out of an old coke can in cave, but that's really not the case.
Why even bother ?The elites don't want to know this this but firearms from dead cops are free and unregistered.
I still feel I was correct for doing it.Whatever Nazi LARP you're on these people will sell you out for actual Nazi submachine guns
>>538145872Thats the Epoxy im using to reinforce the weaker wall of the lower. I put more on after the test fire just before taking the photos.

>>538146665>Are you drawn to Czech firearms or did you make a VZ.61 just because?I first wanted to make an FGC9, then I realized I dont have the technical skill yet. I chose the vz61 because of how many parts kits were made during the 1960-2000 period. For the price, its either a Tac-9 or a VZ-61. Between the two, the euro one is much more appealing.

Lord knows how many the MENA Muslims have had imported across western Europe. I get shivers at the thought of it and I'm Yugo. Now this is all entirely hypothetical and I do not endorse it, I am merely edificating since you asked. If you should, hypothetically, successfully acquire such weapon, beware that not only would you need to avoid being caught over it being entirely illegal as it is, but also because there is substantial risk someone might sell you a piece that's seen action outside the war and they might make you a really sweet deal, but they're really getting rid of "hot" hardware. I.e. you get busted, piece gets taken, forensics find out somebody in Belgium (or elsewhere) got shot with it... and that's you probably well fucked.
