Basically they can get away with it with minimal consequences. If other, smaller countries fought wars like that, they'd be risking actual dissolution, but Russia is blessed with unconquerable geography and a naturally servile population. Their rulers have a lot more leeway to be retarded than those of other European countries.

Anyone else's opinion of Russia is generally one of indifference, mixed feelings, or slight favorability, but specifically these three countries are always inviting you to their commiseration convention because they were at war with Russia for a few months like eighty years ago. Like holy shit, no one cares. I'm being invaded by millions of jeets and gooks and you're complaining about fellow blonde and blue R1A-ers who administered your region for a little while. You'd rather be toy soldiers for NATO who would feel nothing about sending you to get blown up in the drone zone than to simply trade with Russia who has infinite gas, metal, and basically every other natural resource that can be produced north of the tropics.
