>The two minors behind the deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City were groomed by 764, a notorious international online network of violent extremists, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) confirmed on Wednesday.>CICC Undersecretary Renato Paraiso, speaking to BusinessMirror by phone while on an official visit to the United States, said authorities recovered chat logs that established the two teenage perpetrators were active members of 764 and were deliberately recruited and manipulated by the group.>“The two minors are part of the group based on the chats that we recovered,” Paraiso said.>The group operates through social media platforms and gaming apps, using sextortion, blackmail, and physical coercion to force victims into self-harm, animal cruelty, child sexual abuse material (CSAM) production, and other acts of violence.>Paraiso said the CICC is currently in backdoor meetings with the FBI and other US law enforcement counterparts as part of multilateral efforts to address the group. He noted that even first-world countries like the US have struggled to contain the network’s influence.>Initial investigation showed that one of the alleged shooters had posted a photo on his Facebook account wearing a KMFDM shirt. While the band has no known links to 764, Hontiveros said some members of the network use the shirt to glorify the Columbine High School massacre.>She added that alleged members also commented on the minor’s Facebook page, praising him after the incident.
