I'm in Phoenix where it gets way hotter than NY ever will and I have my AC programmed to 68 at night, off while I'm at work, and 70 in the morning and a couple hours before work ends to night. If I worked from home it would be 70 all throughout the day.

Any request for the individual citizen to cutback and ration without accompanying enforced rules on larger organizations should be met with a tremendous and resounding "FUCK YOU." Left or right, local or federal, energy or water, none of that shit matters, change that shit from the top down and asking corpos "pwetty pwease if you feel like it" is not enough. Having said that I set my thermostat to like 82 during the day. If my house is like 70 and then I go outside and it's 90, that 20 degree swing makes me want to die. When that swing is more like 8 degrees, then I feel more able to spend time outside with my dog or run up to the corner store for a snack or drink or whatever. I make my house ice cold when I sleep though, fuck every other priority overnight.
