The people most attracted to philosophy are in need of a father figure and the philosopher is usually a wizened old man claiming authority. There are no valid arguments in philosophy. It's mostly about appearances, like how impressive is the philosopher's beard. The process of science is tying your thinking to objective, measured reality. The process of philosophy is mashing words together to bamboozle and confuse and claim to be the great authority.
