The cost of living is always a political discussion so it's for the public good I pitch this idea... THE FLOATING CABIN. I cracked the code on affordable living in the north. You build a cabin on a trailer, build it on a foundation that has rigid blue or pink foam boards you can get at home Depot (they're buoyant) then you can tow around your cabin and launch it into any lake you please, live on the water for as long as you like, they can't stop you. No taxes, no utilities, no problems. It's truly the last bastion of affordable free living. And it's mobile so you can go anywhere, live on any lake, troll around, anchors away and boom you're good to live there. Anywhere. In the winter just have a small diesel heater in the back and go to any back road and live off grid. Or go to Florida with your cabin on wheels and skip winter and continue to float down south.. this is a game changer

>>538197578That sort of works, but you have to tie up at a dock to go grocery shopping, it gets boring living with minimum electricity (I assume you have a solar panel or two on your shitboat), your water supply is full of fish urine unless you purify it yourself (more electricity), there are no restaurants nearby, you'll want a motor on your boat so you don't have to use a canoe paddle to move it around, your security situation sucks, and so on and so on.From past sailboat threads, the minimum size you want to live on is a 30' boat and even that's pretty cramped.You'll have to do shitloads of maintenance on your shitboat to prevent it from sinking. While some women are intrigued by the prospect of living on a boat, most will look at you as some sort of hoboatsexual drifter. And so on and so on.

I would build a boat cabin 8.5 feet across and 16 feet long and a fold out dock at the back, ladder up on the roof.. I would have a 6.5 foot lower area for kitchen and bathroom and living area and a 5.5 upstairs bedroom living quarters space.
