The GOP is arguably in a worse position because they don't seem to have any plans for when Trump is actually gone, or even consider it a possibility. Vance isn't nearly as charismaticor funny as Trump, but other than him I imagine the GOP might push a few copycat candidates trying to inorganically capture Trump's appeal, since the GOP doesn't seem to see a future without him.
