do you remember a home video tape of putin vacationing in finland in the 90s surfacing on the internet around 10 years ago? i remember someone uploading an extensive, uncut rip of it, but can't find it now.in an otherwise unrelated thread, someone was making a point about how secretive powerful people are about their personal lives, and it made me remember that this tape existed, that i could offer it as vaguely related trivia. i searched "putin finland vacation 90s" on youtube and there were only a handful of short clips from this tape. apparently, these uninteresting clips were anonymously submitted to a finnish state-run media entity in 2023, nobody cared, and that was the end of it. that's not how i remember it at all. i know that this video existed way earlier than 2023, i came across it sometime around 2016-2019. i know this because i can imagine myself sitting on youtube at 3am in my old apartment watching it. i distinctly remember scenes of either putin or someone else riding around on a jetski being part of this tape, but can't find that at all. i can picture the scene and the angle it was filmed at, it's the part i initially remembered, but it's nowhere to be found.the weirdest part is, the 2023 yle article casually admits that parts of the tape had been previously leaked to youtube, but when you try and find ANY mention of this tape prior to 2023 (i tried various different keywords and handful of archives) there's zero earlier references to this tape remaining online.i think the rest of the tape was just putin and presumably his friends, family, and others doing normal vacation shit, enjoying the outdoors, talking, making food, etc. at the time i skimmed through the video, thought to myself "oh, that's neat, how the hell did they find this?". and thought nothing more of it. did they scrub most of this tape and quietly plant a boring cover story??? can someone tell me what's going on here?the relevant article: https://yle.fi/a/74-20051353

hopefully i'm just having a schizophrenic meltdown
test
just doing anything at this point
>>538203285Interesting, why would they erase some seemingly normal video?
>>538204480i think the most realistic answer is that putin is a guy who values discretion (literally kgb) and has the means to enforce secrecy around his personal life and family, which to an extent is reasonablethe less reasonable explanation is that there's clips of him casually hanging out with someone who he shouldn't be, etc.
to me, it's interesting to uncover an undeniable case of a piece of media being purposefully removed from the internet. i'm usually skeptical about that sort of thing (the alien photo, etc)
i'm honestly not knowledgeable enough about 90s russia to really known what to make of the involved charactersthe 90s are the only part of 20th century russia that isn't extremely well-toldall i know is they got pizza hut and everything sucked
im tweaked out right now and needed something to pretend was important lol
bump for meth and effort posting. methfortposting. I knew someone in Finland around this time, wish I still was in contact with him. I am pretty sure he mentioned this once or twice. Thanks for reminding me of Vlads time there during the start of the Donbass shit. Why would they scrub it? It must've been too kino.
>>538205058>It must've been too kino.man probably i could have swornthat there was a still of him on a jetski that was a meme circa 2010 when we did the "badass putin riding a bear" shitbut its easy to see where i could have made that part up
i had to do some 2010 shit in photoshop
this is a political thread as vladamir putin is a politician
>>538203469this is killing me. there's one trace of this video prior to 2023, this 1,000 view youtube video from 2016here there is ONE single person on the entire internet confirming that a longer version exists, and he seems smug about it being gone. he even posted this in 2022 before the new wave of reporting
apparently search engines just completely block you from finding anything about this topic despite the fact that mentions do existwhat i've found is that every account on every website that has ever uploaded it has been banned
a polish article describing the origin of the tape in 2014https://niezalezna.pl/polska/62695-na-aukcji-wystawiono-niepublikowane-archiwalne-nagranie-z-putinem-i-jego-rodzina/62695from what i gather, owning this video is like a status symbol, and somehow, the big social media companies all enforce it's immediate removal, despite it being completely innocent footage. the clip remaining on youtube might be someone recording a phone screen which let it go unrecognized.
i want nothing to do with this tomfoolery, you can have your jetski
>>538206846i cannot believe how prescient that last post at the bottom is
Why would Putin not be entitled to a personal life?
>>538209212he can have a personal life, if he wants to keep it private that's fine. i'm just shocked by the effectiveness and thoroughness of the campaign to hide this video. i still haven't found the fucking thing.
>>538209508Idiots think ‘the internet is forever’, bullshit. Delete something via targeted manors; things disappear. First example I remember of this is someone posted an internal California Highway Patrol training video that explained how they profile ‘street racers.’ It got nuked.
>>538209508I wouldn't assume malice here. There's a ton of old videos who can't be accessed anymore, because it got lost in the digital hay stack. Besides, even if they purged it, I don't think it's a crime to make sure the personal life of a public person is shielded a bit. Jut imagine every detail of your personal memories were on public display for everyone.
>>538210067the reason i believe it's intentional is every time i come across a link to the video, the post has been removed and the account banned. could be a string of coincidences, i guess.
>>538210499I wouldn't dismiss gvt action on this. After all, there's a war and information is key. So you want as much exclusive information for yourself and keep others from access to it. No idea. But I think it would be a lot more interesting to shed some light on Putin's time in Dresden in the 1980s. Reason is there was a major pedo operation by the Stasi going and Putin had the rank of a KGB colonel at the time. As such he enjoyed full access to whatever the Stasi did.https://globalmeschugge.substack.com/p/jeffrey-epstein-blackrock-and-eastern
