Are car AC also banned? Or you have to pay tax penality to use car AC and hope nobody see you with windows up on traffic and 95F weather? Yes it's all very strange to learn Europe is like this, it helps to know that average European has global warming and socialist idealistic worldview of self loathing.

There are window units where the main unit sits on the floor (internally) with the hot air exhaust sitting on the window (nothing hanging externally). There are also ductless designs where the main unit sits on the ground externally. Modern units are as loud as refrigerators.

I’m genuinely confused why any of this is an issue in Europe (other than in terms of energy usage costs).

>>
>>538210910
it's not that kind of issue. Issue is that population in Europe is old and because there are only like 5 days a year of heat, no one ever prepares for it cause everyone is lazy. Then when in 15 years you have record breaking 5 days of heat, people die. Personally, I can't breathe properly so always had an AC and tired of everyone telling me during these 5 days that they need to install one themselves and when the days pass, everyone forgets about them. It's like a loop of retards. Apparently it's too difficult to invest some money so 5 days of your year wouldn't be completely ruined.

it's a porta split - specially made for the german market because of the idiotic german building codes and neighborhood rules.
the lines for the cooling agent are flexible and the idea is to hang out the heat exchanger out of the window (no permanent installation because that's illegal) and the cooling unit inside while the window is slightly open to pass through the cooling lines.
it's retarded but that's what it takes for rentoid cattle to have ACs lel (80% of germans are rentoids)

https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-commission-heatwave-hq-forced-shut-down-air-conditioning-europe/

The European Commission’s headquarters was forced to shut down its air-conditioning system on Friday due to the heat wave.
Staff working at the Berlaymont building received a text at midday, reading: “BERL — URGENT — Due to extreme weather conditions, forced shut down of air cooling system from floor 1 to 7 for the rest of the day.”
The 13-story building is home to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, her 26 commissioners and about 3,000 staff. Von der Leyen works on the 13th floor, and most of her commissioners’ offices are housed on floors eight or above.

Anon, the heat wave killed a similar percentage of the German population as 9/11 did our population. However I'm looking forwards to seeing this again possibly later this year if not next year. it isn't
there's regulations for AC with seperate inside/outside units. Some of them are retarded. It's mostly about noise and the cooling fluids. And due to US tourists expecting a "medieval look" for their favourite holiday towns, there's rules about not changing this look by adding outside ACs - blame the burgers for that
those one unit ACs that suck air in through a partially window are allowed, as long they use allowed cooling fluids. Which the cheap chinese ACs don't use, so those are not allowed to be used soon (afaik)
I don't care, as I've got a nice two units AC installed this spring and the heat wave didn't bother me a bit

I think manual transmissions are just considered normal and automatics are for women and the elderly
Personally the main reason I drive manual is because manual is so common, meaning if I ever rent a car or travel somewhere or basically need to drive another car, there's a good chance it'll be manual. So might as well keep the muscle memory alive so I can have my options open
>>
>>538211106
I think the other issue is that it's genuinely getting hotter nowadays, heat waves feel more common to me. But everyone is stuck in their ways of thinking "oh it's not worth it for 5 days a year", when in reality nowadays it's more like 2-3 weeks a year minimum, and growing.

That's right, you bend the fucking copper pipe. Copper is notoriously weak to shearing stress and work hardens to a point of snapping with simple hand stress. Your shit is going to be leaking within a week of fucking with this, and before long the pipe itself is fucked and you have to re-install the whole thing.

I thought germans were supposed to be smart, not keep vibrating objects on lever arms that's just going to make your entire house frame vibrate loudly. Stupid niggers. The longer I look the dumber this gets.

It's a pride thing at this point.
Every German man will tell you he would never buy an automatic with the implication that automatic is for olds/women.
When a buddy of mine and I needed to rent a van and it came automatic all of our friends were saying they would have demanded a real van!
Shit's dumb.

As for vehicles made for different markets, yeah, it's incredibly common. I don't know if it's still true, but there was a while when the companies were trying to push Ethanol cars and the US was the top manufacturer of them, and also sending all of them to South America since no one wanted them.

The ones with a single hose are retarded because they create negative air pressure and pull in more hot air from the outside.
If you have an intake hose and an exhaust hose that both connect to the outside it isn't that bad.

>pull in 100+ degree air and cool it

Uh... No?
>>
>>538217578
if the two hoses are too close together, the intake just sucks up the hot output and massively reduces the efficiency of the system. You need to take air from somewhere else, like inside the house you are cooling, and force the hot air out, like some kind of pump, that moves liquid heat.

Basically your picture demonstrates sucking up your own exhaust.

Thats how Americans are too. Or at least used to be when I was growing up and cared enough to pay attention. I learned how to drive when I was about 12 in an 70s Ford pickup 4 speed manual in the late 90s. My first 3 vehicles were manual. All my friends drove stick. Parents drove stick. I bought an automatic and don't really hold the same bias towards standard transmissions anymore. Automatics are great unless your car is either high performance or an underpowered poorfag shitbox. I roasted some kid in his ricer the other day with my automatic suv. It was funny.

Show me how you bend steel pipe on site without collapsing the walls. I'll wait.

You CAN use steel in an hvac system, but it's too rigid to be easily installed, leaving it to higher pressure natural gas systems more than your refrigerant.

Copper pipe is used because it's flexible without compromising the structure of the pipe, so I don't have to square and plumb the unit to the exact milimeter like I would with steel pipe. You're brown and retarded.

The more I observe in the age of the internet how your continent works today the more convinced I am it is the single most dystopian place that has ever existed on this planet and I’m not even being hyperbolic. You can’t even be trusted with bottle caps and internet access and your government’s police forces openly persecute you. It’s crazy that your continent isn’t engulfed in flames from the rioting. You’re literally the biggest cucks and losers in all of world-history. Do you get that? I’m being sincere here.

> we don't have that in GERMANY

Germans sit inside all day in 80 degrees like THE HEAT WAVE IS OVER YOU DONT EVEN NEED IT

no wonder they're such unfathomably unhappy individuals
>>
>>538223983
There's really not that much stop and go traffic around here
If I had to commute through the busy city center I'd consider an automatic much more seriously, but the other issue is that parking in city centers is also a massive fucking pain, so it's often better to sit with pakis in public transport than bother taking the car (luckily I don't need to do that these days)
>>
>>538213158
i highly doubt your car requires double clutching during a shift
why are you okay with that modern convenience

its all the niggers. their black skin acts like mirrors that irradiates the heat from the sun. thats why all the crops die and their environments become deserts. same thing with blacktops, or black cars get hotter than sidewalks or white cars.

and if you have a lot of blacktops or black cars, you can absolutely notice the difference. the heat magnifies.

modern scislop will tell you its exactly the opposite

Is it... backwards? lol

Because nothing requires double clutching (except maybe freight trucks but I'm never driving a truck lmao) so it's a useless skill

>but then again: automatic transmissions are still only in 20% of sold cars because germoids believe them to be "inefficient" and "break often" lol
>german autism knows no bounds
that is smart actually, automatics were pretty reliable but now automakers have made them super over complicated for the stated reason of efficiency but it also happens to make them catastrophically blow up at 100k miles which totals the vehicle, I'm speaking of the Ford-GM joint 10 speed POS specifically. Other automakers are sealing them so you can't change the fluid or filter and calling it lifetime, it will be because when it fails the repair will cost more than the vehicle is worth. Manuals can have issues too and do need semi-routine clutch replacement but in a sanely designed car that isn't a huge deal.

Even in not stop and go, it's more convenient and comfortable in every situation. If yoh want to control your shifting there is a mode on every automatic I've driven in case you're going down hill or snow.
Beyond the 'men drive manuals' pressure there is no reason to choose a manual over an automatic unless you do your own repairs

I feel like automatic drivers think driving manual means juggling some kind of NASA cockpit or whatever
The main disadvantage I see is that it's a lot harder to learn, when you're having to learn from scratch both how to control a car in traffic AND how to clutch and shift simultaneously. Past that point though it just becomes muscle memory. The only time I consciously have to make a decision about my gear is when I decide to use it in some way, like flooring it in second gear after a traffic light turns green. And I'm not even a big car guy but the ability to do that unironically makes driving a bit less braindead boring even on routine trips

Kek, I still have the very same Daikin unit I installed 19 years ago and it works well, however its twin unit downstairs shat the bed after 14 years and we had to buy a new unit during the summer and the heat.
The Daikin installer only had a 12.000 BTU split readily available so I had to settle for that one to avoid waiting 2 months.
That shit is su noisy I’m astonished that it carries the Daikin logo, it doesn’t even have the night mode for the external motor, I can hear the resonance of that shit in my room in the upper floor during the night when for some reason using the night settings for the fan at 26C makes the engine work like hell for some fucking reason.

Fuck Daikin, the next one will be a Mitsubishi.

the only disadvantage to me, besides the learning curve, is increased fatigue in heavy stop and go traffic.
t. learned to drive on manual and have always had at least 1 vehicle with it
>>
>>538225399
Yeah that too, but as discussed above it's quite rare to have to drive through a heavily congested city centre here

>a slight hum sets the german off

>>
>>538225399
I mean, it may be difficult for us Europeans with 1.2 aspirated engine shitboxes, the kind of cars that stall if you don’t accelerate when releasing the clutch and lose 50% of the power with AC on, but I find it hilarious to imagine an American having a bad time with a 5.0 V8 manual car with infinite amounts of torque at the red light. Also the trick is driving a diesel car, just lift the clutch without thinking and go.

get two pipes AC. works two time better.
>>
>>538225451
>>538225677
it's not the red lights and cities so much as the highways where traffic can crawl with constant stops / starts for miles / hours.
>>
>>538225887
Highways only get jams for "hours" here when there's some major roadworks closing half the lanes
>>
>>538208692
That seems very inefficient.

>>538208786
Split units are quiet.
Why are you so afraid of new technology? Does it scare you? Make you piss and shit yourself? Are you gonna cry?
>>
>>538224768
And America gun deaths are massively inflated by spics and niggers, what is your point?
>>
>>538225972
here the roadwork never ends
>>
>>538225677
Most american v8s don't come in manual.

They simply stopped making manual transmission that can handle the torque. It's all just dual clutch e-magic now.
>>
>>538225062
I know how to drive a manual, I don't desire it because I enjoy the convenience of an automatic and not having to jiggle a stick every time I have to come to a stop.
I also don't fall easily for the social pressure of 'manual means manly' so I don't even factor that in whereas its other people's entire deciding factor
>>
>>538225887
I don't live in the city. Its just hundreds of miles of flat straight highway in every direction.

Put some pieces of Styrofoam block around that open window to keep the hot air from coming in. Did all the German engineers leave and take all the knowledge with them ???
>>
>>538225062
when the car is stationary and pointed up a steep hill, and when you need to quickly shift down because the brakes arent going to stop the car fast enough in an emergency
those were the two biggest things i had to overcome trying to learn at 15
