>>538236346>1. chiggers>my least favorite. practically invisible, all over the place and active for half the year, unbelievably itchy bites that can interrupt sleep for a week or two>2. mosquitoes>basically unavoidable, bites aren’t nearly as bad as chiggers but are still annoying, technically the most deadly wildlife but I don’t live near water and I’m not in a third world country so they are just a persistent annoyance>3. sweat bees / halictidae>a controversial choice since they seem to be beloved and regarded as friendly online. in my opinion, the most obnoxious bug. will cling to you to drink your sweat for way too long, they are too small and hard to feel and will hang out in spots where you are guaranteed to bump them or slightly squish them and then you’ll be stung. they’ll be on the undersides of your arms, just below your kneecaps, in between your fingers, on the backs of your hands, etc. you’ll get stung if you swat at them and they will never fuck off. repellant has no effect. sting isn’t bad, but fuck these things>4. ticks>as long as you don’t sprint through tall grass and you do tick checks and have regular hygiene, not really a problem. they are slow and much larger than chiggers, the bite isn’t as bad, you have a generous amount of time to remove them before you risk disease. an annoyance
