I'm paying the hourly rate for electricity. I save a ton of money by only charging my car and running the AC at night. I just cool the house down to 68 at night and turn it off in the morning. The house is still a pleasant 75 degrees in the evening when everyone is else running it and paying 10x as much to do the same thing.

The reason we’re so concerned about energy consumption is that we aren’t building enough power plants to meet peak demand.And just so you know, it’s totally possible to do both. We can encourage people to switch off their devices and cut back on electricity use while also having a strong electric grid that can handle high demand. What we really need are more power plants, especially nuclear ones.
