not even kidding - every single thing that women get involved in gets commodified to shit because they’re too stupid to build a PC

look at the gym scene, you could do any exercise in a shitty pair of shorts and shirtless with shit-tier gear or a kettlebell and that was fine, women got into it and suddenly all this useless garbage floods the market. pre-workout goo, gym shark trash, post workout goo, another powder, some selfies, etc

Unironically, all the negative video game pursuits and sentiment is being driven in order to 1) Keep normies from shopping at GameStop to 2) Lower their share (GME) price because those shorts from 2014 to 2021 (and still to this day) have not closed their positions. In fact, they have added to their shorts
>The way short interest has since been hidden is by rolling them into swaps, which the CFTC has so conveniently hidden since 2021 due to “lack of public interest”
>Bankruptcies of shorts so far include Archegos, Melvin Capital, and Credit Suisse
>UBS currently holds to giant pile of dogshit swaps, since the Swiss government basically gave them a $100B lifeline and forced the take over
>This all began in 2020 with the TSLA short squeeze, in which Citadel squeezed BlackRock to the tune of ~$50B. Now what does a fund do when they get squeezed? They squeeze back

It's kind of funny that it has swung back this way. Before torrenting blew up ddl was the way you did it, then it faded into obscurity. Now it's apparently back?
I prefer torrents though, you can leech/seed at your own leisure, whereas ddl in almost all cases require the download running from start to finish, any interruption potentially requiring a restarting the download.

I have a backlog of hundreds of games across P.C. and multiple consoles. Old games are better anyway. Actual good games these days are like finding a diamond in the rough with how much slop gets collectively shit out anymore.
And this is the same for all media. Whether its comics, music, film, televison, pro-wrestling, anime, manga, etc. I often find more joy going back to content I either missed or wasn't alive for than current releases.

Gaming affordability lasts as long as your parts physically do, and I've got a 30 year stockpile of hardware that can run the stuff my family plays.

Game publishers are copying the same strategy the fastfood and car industry did in recent years.
-Double the price
-40% stops buying
-The remaining 60% pays double
-Fewer buyers, more profit

When the gap between rich and poor becomes vulgar in a K-shaped economy this is common business sense. Businesses chase the money, poorfags cant buy videogames, or cars, or a a big mac, so double the price of it all and increase revenue from rich people who still buy.
>>
>>538243875
pretty much yes new titles are slop anyway and theres a backlog of good games that would last you multiple lifetimes. No need to upgrade pc either. Could argue poorfags who cant afford new prices are lucky, they dont have to see the new slop

It's fortuitous that most gamers have been building a massive catalog of great games over the past 2 decades or so worth of steam sales

Are they?
I don't play games anymore because I'm not twelve.
I know that games in the '80s and '90s were like $40-$70. If you adjust those prices for inflation, it's crazy.
It really drives home how the average working-class family during the Reagan to Clinton admins still had enough money to blow tons of money on games for their kids.
Like I said, I don't play games anymore, but as I understand it most games were still around $60, at least a few years ago.
And don't gamers these days play fewer games but log 50+ hours into each?
Seems like a bargain.
You guys have been having it easy.
You were overdue for a price hike.
You can, however, just save yourselves a lot of money by not being gamers anymore, or just play cheap retro games.

>>
>>538238667
The problem isn't the price. Modern gaming sucks, and if you've been playing for at least two decades, there's nothing new to play. The only thing that has changed is the graphics, but the FPS games released today are the same as the ones released 30 years ago.
You just get bored of playing the same thing over and over again.
The only thing that would make me go back to gaming is if the AI was so good that you felt like you were talking to a real person. Imagine that in a game like Skyrim. The AI makes its own decisions and creates its own narrative. That would be interesting.

It still might become unaffordable to play the games you want, even if you don't pay for them, because of the hardware needed to run them

Price of games might be going up, but that isn't the real issue. Price of hardware has sky rocketed thanks to the stupidity going on with AI data centers. Steam box was supposed to be 700€ console like pc, they had to cut back RAM and SSD and it still costs well over 1k.
