The vidyaThe streaming subscriptionsThe obedience>gone
Nid here does not stand alone.
>>538252669It was overdue anyway. They should have collapsed at most two generations ago.
>>538252669The video game industry has been due for a crash for a good decade. This is long overdue.
>>538252669Physical media hasn’t been a thing on PC for a decade at least. The last computer I bought that even had a disk drive was in 2011
>>538253117>>538253052Agreed, but their error is going to incite an outrage that takes the new age of streaming subscription media down with it. Perhaps more than that. This is literally going to cause revolution. The straw that broke the wrong autistic back.
>>538253201PCs and purpose-built consoles are different though for a variety of reasons.
>>538253250Yea consoles are for idiots and children
>>538253309They are the ones who thrash and pout, especially in numbers.
>>538253203Good. Streaming has needed a kick in the pants and "losing money hand over fist because all your shows suck" hasn't been it.Right now we're at the edge of a big convergence. Playstation is shooting itself in the foot, ram and GPU prices are shooting everyone in the gut, GTA has already disappointed the money ghouls by not pushing $100 standard price and it will disappoint dumb players when it comes out and is merely okay instead of the coming of digital Jesus, all the live services are sundowning because the market cannot tolerate an infinite number of games meant to take all of your time (and money), and people have already noticed big money trying to pretend to be indie for street cred. It's all adding up to a big fat reset into something better.
>>538253488Absolutely. Let it burn.
I cant see why digital games are not allowed to be swapped or sold. Give every game a registration number. Swap number new person gets reg number. Hell Sony could get a few with every transaction of they wanted.. what's the fucking problem
>>538254003If steam can figure it out so can they.
>>538254003Because they could sell it at full price and not share the profits instead.Game companies live in a magical world where every single player can and will pay full price if only the alternatives can be eliminated. Younger siblings using big bro's account? They'd all buy a full price copy if they had to. Pirates? They'd all buy a full price copy if they had to. Anyone who's looking to buy the game at a steep discount? They'd pay full price if only the law made them do so.
>>538253203>This is literally going to cause revolution.>>538253488>It's all adding up to a big fat reset into something better.I doubt it. But who knows.>>538253201Well, having physical games was one of the reasons people even bought consoles over PC. It's like, at this point, you may as well just have a PC.
I been voting with my wallet, maybe some of these dumb fucks will join me
Soon the weak will be culled, and we will play only Factorio and Patrician III
>>538254618>>538254765I think they will. I think Playstation expected pushback, but nothing like this. I even think the broader industry is going to be pissed of for what they said and the shit they stepped in.
>>538254870Forget not Prison Architect and RimWorld.
>>538254882I have no idea how to gauge the pushback maybe I should take a trip over to /v/
>>538255032Good idea. On X anyways its a mob with pitchforks.
>>538252669Video games need a full reset. Before that happens the entire monster that exist now must die completely. It's like fighting a hive mind. You have to destroy all the parasites before calling all clear.
>>538255289
>>538255421I think this act is going to set all of that in motion. I really do. Gamers will become Amish sooner than tolerating any more of this shit.
>>538255421>>538255804Like it might even be the focal point to destroying the 'you will own nothing' narrative altogether.
