Senator Chris Murphy and a group of Democratic lawmakers introduced the Living Wage for All Act, which would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $25 an hour. Large employers, those with 500 or more workers or $1 billion or more in annual revenue, would have until 2031 to reach $25 an hour, while smaller employers would get until 2038. After the phase-in, the minimum wage would be pegged to two-thirds of the national median hourly wage so it continues rising over time. The bill would also eliminate the tipped minimum wage.The current federal minimum wage has sat at $7.25 an hour since 2009. An estimated 66 million workers currently earn less than $25 an hour. Similar past efforts, including multiple versions of the Raise the Wage Act since 2017, have failed to pass, and it remains unclear whether this bill will move forward.

The real answer is all of those jobs will be automated. Auotmation is a cost analysis decision. Right now the cost of research/development, the raw supplies, the maintenance for automated equipment, and public perception drives employers to continue employing humans. Tripple the largest cost to a business (wages) and that scale tips heavily toward automation.
