A big plot hole was right at the beggining, a few seconds before he made the wish when she asked him "if you like me this is your chance to tell me" and he said I like you as a friend, after he tried all night to make his friend take the other girl away so he can tell her how he felt and give her a gift. Also, the guy looks like a model and girls have crushes on him even in the movie. "Oh no, but he's a loner". Yeah, he goes to house parties without an issue and socializez.
