China is $10 trillion higher than us when PPP GDP is taken into account vs nominal GDP. PPP is what actually matters when measuring GDP because it takes into account international dollars and local prices. When PPP is considered India has been rapidly approaching the US and yet we still allow millions of them to flood all across the world. We have been getting screwed so badly.

Poor countries always have a much larger PPP than nominal GDP, same as poor countries usually run large trade surpluses. If you go to a poor country, you notice that things are cheap because wages are low and this is what people can afford, while if you go to a rich country, prices and wages are high. This is what the PPP figure reflects: the cost of labor in the country. The higher the gap between PPP and nominal, the poorer the people are.
