I've been to marches where every single business on the route was shut down, lights out. Cops close the roads two intersections away from the route so even drivers cant even get line of sight to see that there are people marching. on july 4 2013ish there was a public call for national protest regarding the snowden leaks, or maybe it was SOPA / PIPA. if i remember there were about 200 cities that held mostly roadside sign holding events with 1-2 dozen attendees on average per site. There was zero news about it. not about the planning nor about the event its self. no one was mentioning it on social media. It was as if it didnt happen.
