Preterism didn't even start existing until around the 3rd century AD. The Apostles still looked forward
Irenaeus and Justin Martyr and Hippolytus and other early Church Fathers closer to the events of 70 AD all looked forward.
But then some Greek Philosophers who "converted" came along and tried to wed their Greek Dualism Philosophy to the Bible, and Preterism, Amillennialism and Bipartite humans (making the Soul/Spirit be synonymous rather than separate parts) took over the Church.
