This wretched jewish religion is the crudest and worst of all religions and consists merely of an absurd and repugnant form of theism, amounting to the notion that the One who created the world demands to be worshipped; consequently, He is, above all, jealous of other gods--if sacrifices are offered to them, He flies into a rage, and His jews suffer the consequences.

When I observe how contemporary European nations view themselves, in a sense, as the heirs to that chosen people of God, I cannot help but express my regret. Incidentally, the impression left upon me by the study of the Septuagint is one of heartfelt love and profound admiration for the great King Nebuchadnezzar--even if he did deal somewhat too leniently with a people that kept a God who gifted them their neighbors' lands and promised them possession thereof, lands they then seized through plunder and murder before building a temple to that God within them.

May every people that keeps a God who turns neighboring lands into "lands of promise" find its Nebuchadnezzar in good time--and its Antiochus Epiphanes, too--and may no further ceremony be wasted on it!
