Only thing Asia still has going for it is some soft cultural power stuff like KPop and anime (though even anime has been starting to suck for the past few years and KPop peaked with the BTS/Black Pink craze but at least still seems to be going somewhat strong in brown countries). All this cultural soft power stuff does though is just drive tourism, which is what all these countries are becoming: playgrounds for overseas tourists, with no other industry to diversify their economies anymore. Thailand now is nothing but luxury shopping malls and overpriced Instagram-bait slop restaurants to cater to the worst form of normgroid Stacy and Todd tourists from the West. 90% of locals receive absolutely 0 benefit from these places and can’t afford them. Japan is no better and has basically become Thailand Of The North since COVID.
