The drug war is fake and the central & south American cartels are allowed to continue functioning, as they serve the CIA's interests in mass cultivation, production, and transport of certain drugs. Limited freedom is given to the cartels to expand their territory as long as supply lines are not significantly interrupted. The CIA uses drug profits to fund black budget research and operations world wide since it is unaccountable to Congress. The cartels are portrayed in the media as these monolithic criminal organizations that are so advanced and high tech they can outmaneuver the FBI, CIA, NSA, DEA, etc. This is pure nonsense. The CIA's annual budget is $81.9 BILLION, which is larger than many countries entire defense budgets, including Canada. The CIA has had 75 years to hone its spycraft skills. Don't you think the CIA knows who every cartel leader is and where their headquarters is located?Mexican/US Military & Law Enforcement officials could easily declare cartels as terrorist/insurrectionists/rebels and destroy them all in a mass decapitation strike. Every single cartel stronghold & headquarters could be decimated with missiles and the Mexican army sent in to every base to mop them up. But they don't do that, why? Because they're allowed to exist, and interdiction efforts are nothing but a performance for the public so that they don't grow suspicious and anxious that the government isn't doing anything.
