I had my first ever Falling Down moment at Walgreen's today. I was craving Root Beer. A&W. But Barg's would have worked in a pinch.

No 2 Liters of Root Beer. Okay, I'll check the cooler and grab a couple 20 oz'ers. 5 different kinds of Dr. Pepper. A&W but it was 2 different kinds of Cream Soda. No Root Beer of any kind.

Went to the shelves, finally a 12 pack of cans. For 13 bucks?!! More expensive than regular beer. In disbelief I go back to the cooler, there's gotta be Root Beer hidden in there (nope). 20 oz bottles... 3 bucks each?!! Or two for $5.50. What a deal.

I left with a jug of Raspberry Lemonade. I don't even drink that shit, but it was the most cost effective to the point I felt at least I wasn't getting ripped off. And the final insult: 15 cents plastic bag fee.

You can buy a DVD player for less than 50$, anon. This is just becoming a problem now because Sony announced they're phasing out disks for new games entirely. As in, it won't matter if you have a disk drive because they won't make anything for you to put in it that requires a ps5.

Gamers(read 13-21 year olds) don't grasp the concept that a PS5 disc can only hold around 150GB of data. Even RDR2 needed an entire install disc just to download half of the game, then the playdisc and another 100GB download with "updates".
Mafia TOC, a total shit game with a 3h campaign and a singular tiny map, had 2 discs and a fucking 250GB download that ate up my PS5. Alan Wake 2 is the same.
GTA VI will be 4x the size of the previous one, have endless mechanics and conversations in it, likely exceeding 500 to 600GB of data. They can definitely give us 6 install discs, but that would make it very unstable with modern verification codes and shit that constantly have to tell the console "Yes, Goyim 451 does own this game that he is currently playing"
It is ridiculous and stupid to demand a physical, easily perishable disc that will make the PS5 constantly rattle with noise from the fan, and if Rockstar hates you, they can still just ban your account and prevent you from playing.

Do the cooler doors at Walgreens still have that video display that shows images of all the shit they don't actually have in stock? You open the door and see basically empty shelves?

yes rockstar will definitely risk complete economic suicide by removing your "ownership" of the game, just because they technically can. class action lawsuit of 100 million people against a company for a 100 dollar game. In other news, if your disc breaks, its over.
>>
>>538477160
>I want a physical disc I can give to a friend to borrow or sell later as a used game.
just download the game for free
>>
>>538483028
It isn't. But it is pretty stupid when it can be solved by just giving you a code for a download.
And my disc for GTAV ps3 broke after a few years, so I had to buy the ps4 version (and recently they handed out the ps5 for free, muh evil company)
I had so many issues in the past with physical discs and dvds breaking and no chance of a refund. a download will remain with you technically always. And again, the PS5 runs smoother with digital content than disc content.

just “owning a disc” is not enough
>>
>>538477160
When I was young their shitty copy protection REQUIRED you to put a physical disk into drive just to play the game. But we used special patches to go full digital, decades before the corporations caught on on the trend. We were the pioneers of the progress
>>
>>538479398
Projection, plain and simple.
>>
>>538481924
You're too young to know this, but many larger games back in the day contained 2-4 discs in the package for this reason. I fucking hate zoomzoomslike you who pretend to know shit
>>
>>538483531
The whole idea evidently failed spectacularly. This article goes in a bunch of directions all at once, but evidently the displays were part of a larger spying setup where Walgreens change the display to target customers for specific products based on what they looked like.

Here's the problem though - Walgreens cannot maintain inventory. This reminds me of the early days of Internet commerce where a lot of semi-scam sellers wouldn't post their inventory - what you were seeing for sale on their site was a complete SKU index of whatever type of product they were selling. You'd order only to be told time and again the item wasn't in stock. Those doors display everything that Walgreens may sell to customers, but not the inventory that they have on hand.

The vendor sued Walgreens (the article doesn't say why, but I would guess that Walgreens want to back out of the deal and aren't paying the vendor). Walgreens counter-sued, saying the screens don't actually work, blank out, catch fire, etc. It's a mess.

If I want the code I'll ask for the code and receive a discount because there is no physical disc or packaging to manufacture. How kiked is your country, honestly?
>>
>>538483309
100 million is not even close. Class action suits are typically for 10 percent or less than what was profited off the offense, and that assumes everybody eligible even applies and gets a cut. They pocket the rest and keep moving. Potential suits are baked into the strategy and only a retard thinks a big company gives a single fuck about them, they in fact charge everybody more and put a portion into a temporary account just in case a suit is filed and then the top execs split it up if that doesn't happen or falls through.

PC games yes, but not console games. PS1 was the golden era desu. a finished game with no bugs, no updates and shit. just a perfect game with a 10h campain. God I miss old school Tomb Raider.
I lived through all console generations since the 90s and only with PS4 did it start that you had several discs.
On PC I only remember Zoo Tycoon having 1 install disc and then 1 play disc for each expansion to add onto. I think AOEII had the same system

I had the entire Tomb Raider series, crash bandicoot, Diver's Dream and Gex, all 1 single disc. It wouldn't even have worked otherwise, because PS1 and PS2 operated with no internal storage. you needed a memory card of what like 20MB to save your game. you couldn't store 1GB of game data on the console itself.

i never had a ps1 personally, but I do remember the multi disk games, mostly stuff like final fantasy, I don't know exactly how the tech worked (relying on memory cards for the save info?), just know that they existed. The player progressed until a certain point on the disk 1, and the second half of the game would be on the second disk or something, the player didn't "install" the game on the console, it ran entirely on the disks.

you can check it out on internet

>>
>>538484797
Yes, console games. The final fantasy games for playstation were known for this, among others. They didn't even install anything, and there are several exploits based on taking advantage of this. There is no reason a modern game can't install off discs, and in fact it would be faster than downloading off the internet. Turbokiked titles not long ago sold "physical copies" that were in fact single use codes stored to the disc that only triggered the download. A 4 or more part set that sequentially downloaded off of a disc collection has no disadvantage beyond not being controlled entirely by kikes even after purchase.
>>
>>538484868
Gta5 was 60 on release, retard. Even that was overpriced, especially with no physical and transferrable copy.
>>
>>538485603
You just popped the tray when prompted. You could exploit this is many ways, my favorite was the "demo" discs that came with magazines that "lol whoops" contained several entire games and could be used to play them start to finish if you knew just when to fuck with the tray lid. Some genius decided it was easier to rig up checkpoints and timers as the cutoff for the demo and kids all over figured it out or told other kids about it.
>>
>>538486099
I guess so, its essentially the same, your save carried over to the other disk, but they were considered the same game, rather than different episodes or sequels. Its the workaround they found for disk limitations back then.
>>
>>538486099
You two have to be trolling. I'll put it this way: most "modern" games come in the form of a handful to dozens of files. .pak is a common extension. This is no different from a multi-part .iso model, which is just the digital version of the physical disc format that older multi-disc games operate on, but natively digital and you don't need to understand that it's there.

It's something democrat cities do to virtue signal about the environment.
Make it illegal for them give customers free disposable grocery bags or even ban plastic bags entirely.

The store has to sell them (often with a special tax earmarked for an environmentalism grift slush fund).
It's sold to the dipshit democrat voters with the fantasy that suddenly everyone will switch to reusable bags and no innocent duckies or turtles will choke on a plastic grocery bag.

Westerners are mind broken when it comes to piracy. In my entire life, I've not met a single person who actually bought non-multiplayer games, and even multiplayer games that support custom servers are more often than not purchased.

If you want to own the game, pirate it. Host a custom server if it's multiplayer. If it doesn't support it, mod it. If it doesn't support it, however, it's generally a trash game made by corporate fags that want to extract the maximum possible amount of money from you, so it's not worth playing in comparison to games that actually have soul.
