that is the constant with PF
it technically is a warcrime you know, one of the low ones
to use civilians to break a military blockade as your soldiers or ships stay behind? wow

might even be lower than rape and looting by military code standards
cannibalism being the worst

the ships become legitimate targets if they are part of an US escort whether it is just ships
or air cover of this magnitude

Israel is behaving better than the US is behaving in the strait.
As I have been saying the US is more transgressive and less willing to accept the MoU than even israel.
Specific on strait control, service fee demands and later the US would 100% want to sail warships back into the strait should Iran cave on the fees.

the US is fucking around in the strait daily, israel has given up (temporary) their dahya doctrine (bombing the shia district of beirut in retaliation for losses on the ground)

the issue I see is that he got too much of a player mindset not a keeper

1. risky leaves the area where he got goalie privilege to take the ball into his hands
2. then loses track of the belgian to his right as he takes the ball with an even more risky chest bump (for a goalie very risky) in that moment totally out of mind that the belgian is behind him
3. the belgian uses it and before the goalie can lay the ball up to kick away (outside the goal area where he got near absolute protection) the belgian takes control and gets a free shot on the empty goal

The BOJ prints Yen and that Yen is invested in dollar denominated assets much of which is UST. Rinse and repeat until they have a sizable 1T nut.

Now they want to sell some / most of that to buy Japanese denominated assets.

This causes the interest rates in the US to go up and bond yields to go up as well. In theory stock market crashes because returns will be inferior to “risk free”
bonds. Could be worse because of nobody wants to buy them then us central bank has to print the money into existence as bank reserves causing inflation.

Negative feedback loop ensues as asset-laden wealthy quickly see their assets crash in prices. Bad recession almost guaranteed

they aren't going to be taking Kharg from a amphibious assault ship. They'd have to pass in front of 75% of the Iranian coast to get in range of it. If there's an assault on Kharg, it will come from bases in Iraq. Driving up the Strait would be suicide.
>>
>>538486771
>all out war they'd probably get wrecked
Iran for lack of a better comparison is basically mordor
if iraq and afghanistan were bad iran is a nightmare, there are no good staging areas and they can play reverse whack a mole indefinitely
US would "need" to put warcrime level pressures on citizens to even have an entry chance or do something ridiculous like heavy electromagnetic warfare (but the US army cant survive without its toys) and even then i don't see that being useful against the fpvs and so on

>will have reason
it doesn't matter
the reason countries have these gay tit for tats, sometimes hitting empty warehouses on purpose, is because "state silence" or "state inaction" is interpreted as acquiescence.
this is particularly important in border disputes, e.g. Preah Vihear (ICJ decisions) or the Gulf of Sidra incidents.

tl;dr it's obligatory, it will happen, the only question is whether it will be real (signaling a wind up) or symbolic (signaling a wind down)

The thing with this situation though is the existence of the MoU.
If the US keeps on degrading it, Iran will no longer see the point in trying to negotiate at all, and other countries will increasingly see signing agreements with the US as being a crapshoot.
That's not the sort of reputation you want for your country no matter who you are.
>>
>>538490718
>>538490814
I forgot to bring up that US intervention here goes against the MoU directly, instead of just implying it.

we're enforcing the MOU, from our perspective. iran had an obligation to keep civilian vessels safe, but instead they keep trying to murder uninvolved sailors and cause an environmental catastrophe.

this is simply wrong at each syllable
the US is not enforcing the MoU
if they were they would've:
immediately unfrozen Iran's stolen funds
forced Israel out of Lebanon
withdrew all forces from the Middle East (we're nearing the 30-day mark from signing where they all have to be gone)
this goes with the last point, but, not bringing any new forces into the region
not challenging Iranian authority of the strait (section 5 is clear about this)
Not threaten Iran in any way shape or form

And yet every single one of these things, that the US has to, has happened.

The implication that "Iran had an obligation to keep the ships safe" ignores that they're a state that has the safety of their interests in mind.
If a ship isn't following Iranian authority of the strait, they can take what measures they deem necessary to deal with the problem.

Imagine if you would, a ship ignoring US hails and instructions when docking on one of the US coasts, what would happen? Would it get boarded? Maybe shot at if it's deemed hostile? Hmm?

To suggest Iran is doing something it's not is very interesting, at the least.

>>538491687
nobody said there haven't been breaches, but you don't really want me to write paragraphs about why your characterization of them is hyperbolic. it's textbook zone flooding.
the US will continue its enforcement actions, as they're practically obligatory and would serve our interests even if they weren't.
